About the role

We are seeking a creative and strategic Senior Manager of Communications. You’ll be a key hire on our fast-moving Comms team where you’ll support driving robust external coverage and mindshare for Character.AI through owned and earned media; help to strategically position the company on important topics  like trust and safety and our deep technical expertise; and partner effectively with teams like Product and Marketing to drive product adoption and growth. You will report to the Head of Communications. 

Among the critical tasks you’ll take on:

• Manage complex communications issues impacting multiple audiences, working closely with cross functional partners to ensure consistent and compelling communications. 

• Refine and execute against an owned media plan with the goal of using our channels to strategically position Character.AI on a range of issue areas. 

• Support near-term external comms needs including corporate announcements and consumer launches. 

• Explore and develop new thought leadership opportunities for our executives and prepare them for interviews, conferences, keynotes, etc.

• Support product launches with sophisticated comms campaigns anchored in customer-led narratives, proof points, and data.

• Work cross-functionally with marketing, product, legal, and other teams to ensure consistent and effective messaging.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience in communications roles.

• Experience as an on the record spokesperson. 

• Strong understanding of the communications ecosystem and the importance of an integrated communications approach to storytelling.

• Demonstrated skills at building relationships with reporters and editors.

• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute crisis communication plans.

• Proven ability to work collaboratively with crossfunctional stakeholders to shape  communications narratives and support public announcements.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Compensation Range: $150K - $300K
