Summary

The Skills Manager, reporting to the Senior Manager, Skills Management & Assessments, is a key member of the Talent Management Team within the Learning and Talent Solutions Center of Excellence. This role is crucial in developing and implementing a skills-based talent management strategy for TWDC. Responsibilities include developing and managing a skills taxonomy and assessment process, partnering across the talent lifecycle (recruitment, career development, L&D, internal mobility, succession planning), driving adoption of skills-based practices, and ensuring integration with HR systems (LMS, ATS, etc.). The ideal candidate will have experience in HR strategy, skills-based organizations, project management, and change management, and possess excellent communication and analytical skills.

Job Summary:

About the Role & Team

As part of the Talent Management Team under the Learning and Talent Solutions Center of Excellence, we lead the development of Talent Management philosophies, processes and tools and drive the work from concept stage through implementation and measurement!

The Skills Manager will be responsible for supporting the work of identifying, developing, and leading the skills taxonomy and assessment process of the organization. They play a key role in talent management, focusing on evaluating skills, implementing processes to drive adoption, and preparing employees for future critical skills. They will report to the Senior Manager, Skills Management & Assessments.

What You Will Do

Skills-Based Talent Management:

  • Participate in the development of the skills philosophy and strategy to move TWDC towards a more skills-based approach by using data collected internally and externally
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices in skills management space to ensure talent management framework supports evolution of skills
  • Partner across the talent life cycle to evolve our approach to skills-based talent management processes, including partnership with recruitment, career development, learning and development, internal mobility, and succession planning
  • Drive the adoption of skills-based practices across the organization, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development

Skills Taxonomy & Skills Assessments Development

  • Research and operationalize the evaluation and implementation of both competency models and of a dynamic and unique skills taxonomy that supports the organization’s talent management framework
  • Recommend and implement tools and technologies to streamline the processes that will incorporate skills taxonomy and assessments
  • Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to validate and update skills and competency models regularly
  • Ensure reporting and integration of skills taxonomy in all HR systems, including LMS, ATS, and other platforms
  • In partnership with Learning & Development, support the development of a skills assessment strategy

Project Management:

  • Project manage various skills strategy dependencies ensuring goals are met in a timely manner
  • Manage team relationships with People Insights, Internal Mobility, HR Business Partners, Career Development, L&D, Talent Acquisition, People Insights and business leaders to ensure alignment and integration of skills initiatives

Change Management

  • Support the roadshow of skills management and assessment strategy that is digestible and sustainable to integrate into the organization
  • Act as a change agent, driving the adoption of new practices within the organization

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in relevant HR field such as talent management, compensation, HR analytics, organizational development with a focus on skills-based organizations
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and managing skills as part of HR strategy
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to cross-functional teams and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Ability to build relationships across the organization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in preferred


The hiring range for this position in New York is $130,800.00-$159,800 per year and in Burbank is $124,900 – 152,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
