UX/UI Lead

Kuuasema, a leading game studio based in Helsinki, is seeking a seasoned UX/UI Lead to join our dynamic team. With a strong team of almost 45+ talented individuals we have established ourselves as a prominent player in the game development industry. Our business is divided between work for hire projects from renowned companies like Rovio and Remedy, as well as the development of our own exciting IP, such as Cthulhu Keeper.

Kuuasema is looking for an experienced UX/UI Lead to guide our team through all phases of interface development, over multiple projects and genres. You are a diligent student of the best and newest game interface, across all platforms. You’re comfortable making a wireframe, creating the perfect ‘play’ button, or picking fonts for a UI style guide. And you’re an empathetic soul who intuits how interfaces can frustrate or delight our players.You are able to serve as a coach and mentor to our UX/UI Designers, giving them clear, actionable, and constructive feedback on their work, to set them up for success and growth.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with producers, directors, and the UX/UI team, to set a clear vision and project-level priorities for the user experience across the whole game, driving execution during development and in live service
• Lead the charge and be hands on in the creation of intuitive responsive designs across multiple platforms (iPhone, Android, Web, Mobile web)
• Work self directed with little supervision to create various iterations of UI/UX opportunities to solve problems
• Be comfortable working in a prototype phase of development that can scale up to full production
• Clearly depict your design using whatever tools necessary, including but not limited to interactive prototypes, hi-fidelity mock-ups or wireframes
• Defining best practices for the UX/UI discipline within the studio

Qualifications:

• 5+ years experience working on UX and UI
• 3+ years game industry experience
• Leadership history on prior projects
• Excellent personal, written and oral communication skills
• Fluency in best practices for interaction design, design thinking, UX principles and methodologies, and proficiency mentoring others in these areas
• Skilled with industry tools: Illustrator, XD, Figma, Photoshop, Sketch,  
• Strong sense of graphic design, font, color
• Portfolio or demo reel that demonstrates breadth of skill, styles, genres
• Experience in mobile, console, and pc interface development
