Job Description

Bit Reactor is seeking a mid-level to Senior VFX artist experienced in creating high-quality real-time cinematics using Unreal Engine 5.5 for a Star Wars project. Responsibilities include creating a variety of effects such as blasters, explosions, smoke, fire, and destruction, while collaborating with leads, art direction, and other disciplines to ensure artistic style, consistency, and support for gameplay systems. The role also involves assisting in the improvement and stability of VFX tools, assets, and pipeline, and optimizing VFX assets for efficient performance and visual quality. This is a six-month contract position.
Must have:
  • 3-5+ years of VFX art production experience
  • Real-time VFX authoring tools experience (Unreal Engine 4/5 ideal)
  • Good sense of timing and color theory
  • Ability to work independently and solve VFX challenges
  • Proficiency with 3dsMax or Maya
  • Strong knowledge of Photoshop
  • Understanding of VFX asset costs and performance impact
  • Demo reel required
Good to have:
  • Experience creating shaders in a real-time node-based tool
  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics simulation software (Embergen, Houdini, FumeFX)

Job Details

Bit Reactor is looking for a skilled mid-level to Senior VFX artist with experience working on high quality real-time cinematics. We’re using the latest tech in Unreal engine 5.5 to bring the Star Wars universe to life like never before. Artists will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of effects like blasters, explosions, smoke, fire, destruction, and more! The position is available for onsite or remote work. Applicants must present a demo reel of recent work. This will be a six-month contract. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with leads and art direction to follow artistic style and ensure consistent look across the game
  • Collaborate with other creative disciplines and engineers to create visual effects that support gameplay systems
  • Assist in the constant improvement and stability of VFX tools, assets, and pipeline
  • Work with tech art and graphics programmers to ensure VFX assets are optimized and run efficiently while maintaining visual quality

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in VFX art production
  • Experience with real-time VFX authoring tools - Unreal Engine 4 or 5 is ideal
  • Good sense of timing and color theory
  • Ability to work independently and creatively to solve VFX challenges
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, iterative development environment
  • Good communication and time management skills
  • Proficiency with 3dsMax or Maya for creating 3D assets
  • Strong knowledge of Photoshop
  • Experience creating shaders in a real-time node-based tool
  • Understanding of VFX asset costs and impact on performance
  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics simulation software, such as Embergen, Houdini and FumeFX, is a big plus
  • Demo reel is required
