Director of Accounting

Onward Search is a specialized staffing and talent solutions company that helps professionals find top jobs with the nation’s leading brands. We’re looking to hire a Director of Accounting for a global mass media and entertainment company.
You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s accounting functions and its financial reporting. This is a 6 months contract opportunity. The is a hybrid role located in Los Angeles, CA.

Director of Accounting - Responsibilities: 

• Manage and oversee the preparation of timely financial statements and corporate submissions/disclosures.
• Oversee core accounting operations, including accounts receivable, revenue recognition, deferrals, and general ledger accounting and GL account reconciliations.
• Review and post journal entries for all aspects of the business.
• Manage the month-end financial reporting process.
• Consolidate support schedules for internal and external requests.
• Supervise a team of accounting staff, ensuring effective team performance and efficiency.
• Fulfill ad-hoc requests as needed.

Director of Accounting - Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance.
• Experience with financial analysis, US GAAP and IFRS.
• 10+ years of accounting experience, with at least 4 years in a management or leadership role.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Desired Skills:

• CPA, CMA, or Master’s degree is a plus.
• Experience in the entertainment industry preferred, ideally in transactional accounting.
• Advanced computer skills on MS Office (specifically Excel), SAP, and databases.
• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to work with large amounts of data – files by title, market, and territory.
• Working knowledge of VAT & Withholding taxes.

To qualify for our benefits package, you must work over 30 hours per week and the length of assignment must be a minimum of 10 weeks.
