The Engineering Technical Leader will be responsible for designing and developing electric machines for various applications, including rail, off-highway, and drill applications. The role involves working with cross-functional teams to design and develop electric machines, as well as maintaining and expanding on existing products. The leader will provide technical leadership, support business-critical initiatives, and manage complex assignments. Responsibilities include leading a team of engineers, driving new product introductions, ensuring technical quality, and promoting professional growth. The role requires a strong understanding of electromagnetics and excellent communication skills.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 8 years of experience with hardware design (e.g., motors, transformers)
  • Experience with rotating equipment (alternators, generators, AC/DC motors)
  • Good understanding of electromagnetics
  • Good communication skills
  • Fluent in English

Who will you be working with?

Our best-in-class Electric Rotating Machines Engineering team develops a wide variety of products for rail, off-highway and drill applications. In this role, the Technical Leader will work with a cross-functional teams to design and develop electric machines, as well as maintaining and expanding on the existing products.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Electric Rotating Machines team, you will be responsible for design, testing, application studies, field support, manufacturing support, and innovation on a variety of machine topologies.  You will support various business critical initiatives that include hybrid and battery electric vehicles.

You will be responsible for motors and/or alternator electrical design and work with cross functional teams to meet assigned objectives.  In this role, you will be responsible for giving technical leadership on major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with hardware design (i.e., motors, transformers, etc.)
  • Experience with rotating equipment (alternators, generators, AC motors, DC motors)
  • Good understanding of electromagnetics
  • Good communication skills
  • Fluent in English

What will your typical day look like?

  • Provide technical leadership for a team of engineers within Propulsion Engineering
  • Take initiative and lead on new product introduction, reliability, productivity, manufacturing and sourcing support projects
  • Provide support and recommendations to management, lead business case discussions for multi-generation product planning  
  • Assure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and quality reviews, and responsiveness to customer / program needs
  • Lead communication on technical and business issues between organizations and within work groups
  • Promote professional growth through feedback, coaching, and mentoring, where appropriate.
  • Ensure company compliance initiatives and training requirements are implemented within work group
