Position Overview: As the Field CTO for the Public Sector, you will play a critical role in shaping our cybersecurity strategy for hybrid cloud, while delivering cutting-edge solutions to the public sector environments, including Federal and State & Local Government and Education (SLED). You will act as a trusted advisor, providing deep technical expertise on cybersecurity, including Zero Trust architectures while managing and guiding a team of experienced Field Sales Engineers. This role requires a blend of strategic vision, thought leadership, technical acumen, and leadership skills to drive successful engagements and ensure client satisfaction.  This role will report directly to the VP of Worldwide Sales and Solution Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Public Sector Thought Leader:
    • Evangelize Gigamon’s Deep Observability Pipeline solution to public sector customers, analysts, press, and the industry at large. Key deliverables will include blogs, social media campaigns, articles, as well as participation in conferences and external speaking engagements that increase thought leadership and drive awareness.
    • Collaborate with clients to assess their current adoption of Zero Trust framework to provide guidance to the Gigamon Product Line Management (PLM) team as we continue to enhance solutions that address unique challenges and compliance requirements.
    • Lead the execution of Gigamon’s Zero Trust strategy tailored to the needs of the public sector market.
    • Sustain a regular cadence with the PLM team and the Security CTO to maintain consistency of messaging and product direction.
    • Support and collaborate with the Director of Public Policy on engagements with US Federal government and SLED legislative and policy-making bodies and federally funded research and development corporations (FFRDC) such as MITRE to shape cybersecurity law, regulation and policy in a way that is favorable to Gigamon over the long term.
  2. Field Engagement:
    • Partner directly with the VP of Public Sector Sales team to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities within the public sector.
    • Serve as the cybersecurity trusted advisor for public sector clients and partners, delivering high-level presentations, technical workshops, and demonstrations of Gigamon’s solutions.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key client and partner stakeholders, ensuring a deep understanding of their business and technical needs.
    • Build strategic plans and roadmaps to drive market penetration and exceed assigned sales targets.
    • Support sales efforts by engaging in complex negotiations and providing technical insights during the sales cycle.
  1. Team Leadership:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Sales Engineering Managers, providing them with the necessary tools, training, and support to excel in their roles as leaders of the Field Engineers.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation within the team, encouraging continuous professional development and technical expertise.
    • Set clear objectives and performance metrics for the team, ensuring alignment with Gigamon’s strategic goals and client expectations.
    • Oversee the creation and execution of technical proposals, proof of concepts, and implementation plans.
    • Collaborate with a talented team of professionals in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM) preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in a technical leadership role, with a focus on cybersecurity architectures and at least 7 years in the public sector.
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in Zero Trust principles, network security, and related technologies. Familiarity with Gigamon’s product suite is advantageous.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing technical teams, with strong management and mentoring skills.
  • Communication: Exceptional presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Client Orientation: Proven track record of building and maintaining strong client relationships and delivering technical solutions that meet their needs.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel as needed to support client engagements and team activities.
  • Security Clearance:  SECRET or TOP SECRET is a definite plus/advantage

The base salary compensation range targeted for this role based out of Gigamon’s Santa Clara, CA, Headquarters office is $224,000 - $275,000, with an opportunity to earn an annual bonus or commission (subject to terms and conditions of the plan). This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company’s compensation practices.
