Game UI Designer

Since 2018, PortalOne has been laser-focused on its mission to converge the strengths of the games and TV industries to build an entirely new category of entertainment: hybrid games. Our unique product combines real-time gameplay with shows streamed directly inside the game, complemented by the stunning visuals of our retro-inspired PortalOne universe. This vision is enabled by our team of games industry experts from companies like King, IO Interactive, FunPlus, and Gameloft; Hollywood veterans from Warner Bros and the Matrix trilogy; and TV industry executives who’ve worked on shows like The Voice and Idol. This, paired with our extensive roster of world-class investors and advisors, empowers us in delivering this next generation of entertainment.

We want to increase the joy and value of playtime, and realize the full potential of immersive, gamified experiences to entertain, inspire, connect and develop people around the world. Our mission is to be the ultimate destination for hybrid games, in the same way that Netflix is for TV and film, and Spotify for music. In the future, PortalOne will host hundreds of games and shows in every category and genre, offering something for everyone to enjoy. In our early stages, our metrics have shown that we are significantly outperforming industry standards, and we're now looking to increase our velocity and supercharge growth.

As a Game UI Designer, you will be a part of the team bridging the gap between the game design and user experience, ensuring that our games are not just functional but also visually appealing. You will be one of our masterminds behind the intuitive interfaces that facilitate immersive experiences for our players. This work will be front and center, defining the visual journey our players embark upon every time they engage with our products.

YOUR CHALLENGE

Dive deep into the world of gaming interfaces and emerge with designs that captivate and resonate by: 

• Designing UI elements such as in-game menus, buttons, icons, and more, ensuring they align with the overall game aesthetics. 
• Collaborating closely with UX designers and UI Developers to ensure that the UI complements the user experience seamlessly. 
• Implementing feedback from user tests to refine and enhance UI designs.
• Staying updated with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies in the gaming world to keep our games ahead of the curve. 
• Creating design guidelines and standards to ensure consistency across all game interfaces. 
• Working closely with developers to ensure accurate implementation of the UI designs. 
• Proactively seeking feedback from peers and stakeholders to continuously elevate the design quality. 
• Participating in cross-functional teams, integrating UI designs with larger game concepts and narratives.

WHO YOU ARE

If you have a keen eye for detail, a passion for gaming aesthetics, and a knack for turning functional elements into visual masterpieces, we're eager to meet you! Ideally, you will have:

• A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in UI design, with a focus on gaming interfaces. 
• A portfolio showcasing your top UI design projects, with emphasis on your design process. 
• Proficiency in design software like Photoshop, Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma, or equivalent. 
• A deep understanding of typography, color theory, layout, and visual hierarchy. 
• Knowledge of current gaming industry standards and a genuine passion for gaming. 
• The ability to communicate design decisions effectively and to take feedback constructively. 
• Working proficiency in English. 
• A bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Interactive Design, or a related field is a plus. 
• Familiarity with Unreal Engine is an advantage, but not required.
