The Head of the Visual Arts Department will lead, manage, and inspire the department, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and artistic excellence. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of both the IGCSE and IBDP Visual Arts curricula and be passionate about developing students' creativity and skills.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management:

  • Lead and manage the Visual Arts Department, including mentoring and supporting teachers.
  • Oversee curriculum planning, development, and assessment in line with IGCSE and IBDP standards.
  • Ensure continuous professional development for department staff through workshops and training.

Curriculum Planning & Implementation

  • Design and implement a challenging and engaging curriculum for IGCSE and IBDP Visual Arts students.
  • Develop and oversee art exhibitions, projects, and events to showcase student work.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of curriculum changes and best practices in art education.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing guidance and support where necessary.

Teaching & Mentoring

  • Teach Visual Arts classes as needed, ensuring a high level of engagement and student-centered learning.
  • Guide and mentor students in the creation of their IGCSE and IBDP art portfolios.
  • Provide individual feedback and support to students to help them reach their full potential.

Administrative & Operational Duties

  • Manage the department budget and resources effectively, ensuring materials and equipment are maintained.
  • Coordinate with other academic departments and contribute to the broader academic community.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies, safeguarding, and health and safety regulations in the art studios.
