Job Description
As a Data Analyst on the Linguistics team, you will use your language skills to improve and refine language data across Lightcast's products. Your fluency will directly influence how specific languages are represented and maintained on Lightcast's global platform. In this role, you will shape linguistic features, uphold quality standards, and enhance product functionality. You will analyze and improve data quality of multilingual text classifiers, work with linguistics and engineering teams to build out new parsers across languages, translate various taxonomies, create crosswalks from origin language titles and skills to Lightcast taxonomies, use SQL for data handling, and annotate data used for model training and validation. This role offers a unique chance to impact language data globally, contributing to cutting-edge technology. (approximately 100 words)
Must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Data Analytics or related.
- Strong linguistics knowledge is required.
- Competency in multiple languages (Arabic, Chinese, etc.).
- Understanding of syntax and structural analysis.
- Microsoft Excel experience (vlookups, data cleanup).
- Knowledge of query languages such as SQL.
- Knowledge of text analysis or machine learning principles.
- Experience with data analysis tools (Excel or Python).
- Knowledge of RegEx.

As a Data Analyst on our Linguistics team, you’ll leverage your language expertise to support the development and refinement of language data across our products. Your fluency will directly impact how specific languages are represented and maintained within Lightcast’s global platform. In this role, you’ll play a pivotal part in shaping linguistic features, driving quality standards, and enhancing product functionality. This is a unique opportunity to influence the evolution of language data on a global scale, with meaningful contributions to cutting-edge technology.
Major Responsibilities:
- Analyze and improve data quality of multilingual text classifiers
- Work with linguistics and engineering teams to build out new parsers across languages
- Translate various taxonomies such as Skills, Titles, and Occupations.
- Create crosswalks from origin language titles and skills to Lightcast taxonomies
- Use SQL for data handling and database management
- Annotate data used for model training and validation
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Data Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, NLP or similar.
- Strong linguistics knowledge
- Competency in any of the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Vietnamese.
- (Preference will be given to candidates that possess multiple)
