Job Description

The Managing Producer will champion diverse perspectives and approaches in creative development for Disney Live Entertainment (DLE). Responsibilities include managing multiple projects, overseeing team structures and processes, ensuring efficient and impactful work, and collaborating with various teams and executives. The role requires strong leadership, financial management, and relationship-building skills, as well as experience negotiating contracts and managing budgets. The successful candidate will advocate for underrepresented communities and drive creative content that expands DLE's reach. This includes managing the delivery of multiple CDIS projects and events, building relationships across TWDC and the industry, and overseeing the day-to-day systems and procedures of the team. This role involves collaboration with global and domestic executives and clients, contract negotiation, and a deep understanding of Live Entertainment within Disney Parks and Resorts.

You have a diversified background as a Managing Producer, or Business Manager, which may include experience in live entertainment or a related creative industryYou have extensive experience with management  or oversight of project logistics, annual budgets, building business relationships, and martialing resourcesThe role, Managing Producer Live Entertainment, Content, Creative Development & Inclusive Strategy (CDIS), which reports to the Director-Live Entertainment, Content Creative Development & Inclusive Strategy (CDIS), will partner to lead the strategic work of championing diverse perspectives and approaches, and underrepresented communities or collaborators who will  drive creative development of creative content and experiences that expand the reach and relevance of Disney Live Entertainment (DLE) with our diverse global audiences.  

 

You will be responsible for managing the delivery of multiple CDIS projects and events, while developing and overseeing the structure and processes that ensure that the work of CDIS is sustainable and efficient, yet inspired and impactful, so that creativity and collaboration across Disney Live Entertainment remains robust, aspirational, and transformative for all! 

This is a Full Time Role and reports directly to a Director of Inclusive Strategies.

 

Responsibilities/ You Will 

  • Have a tireless passion for driving change in organizational culture, critical thinking, and strategically driving business results. 

  • Under advisement of the Director Live Entertainment Content, Creative Development & Inclusive Strategy DLE, and the VP Creative and Advanced Development, you will assess the resource needs of the CDIS annual strategic plan, and serve as fiscal manager of that plan, and influence and guide how the Team develops and delivers projects on time and on budget. 

  • Champion a tone of inclusive perspectives to drive creativity and innovation. Develop relationships across TWDC and the industry in support of DLE goals for inclusion, relevance, and transformative storytelling. 

  • Collaborate to build, oversee, and manage the day-to-day systems and procedures of the Team, with an efficient approach to project management and business practices.   

  • Set goals and systems of accountability. 

  • Manage individual members of the CDIS team, supporting their development to meet the global demands of supporting Disney Live Entertainment. 

  • Be accountable for direct interface with global and domestic executives and clients to establish CDIS project scope, logistics, and deliverables, as appropriate throughout the phases of each project.  

  • Negotiate and execute contracts with Consultants, Talent, third party contracts, or bargaining agreements, as may be required to produce or execute CDIS projects. 

  • Collaborate with the Director, Live Entertainment Content, Creative Development & Inclusive Strategies and with leaders across DLE sites, or for specific projects, to identify Production Teams and resources on a project basis. 

  • Gain an understanding of the role of Live Entertainment in Parks and Resorts by visiting and touring the parks, participating in customized learning sessions, site visits, and other travel to gain first-hand knowledge of our entertainment products, services and business relationships. 

  • Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and evenings while advocating well-being and balance for all those related to the project  

 

Basic Qualifications  

  • Highly motivated and self-driven with the ability to manage multiple disciplines/projects in fast-paced, high demand environment, and with adaptability to a wide variety of working environments, processes, or styles. 

  • Demonstrated leadership advocating for underrepresented communities, and diverse cultural, generational, and/or global perspectives. Willingness to continue to deepen understanding and appreciation of new perspectives. 

  • Demonstrated leadership ability, including problem-solving, influencing abilities, negotiating skills and continuous improvement process experience.  

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on specific and measurable targets through collaborative team environment. 

  • Demonstrated ability to handle financial/accounting issues relative to area of responsibility.  

  • Demonstrated strong presentation experience, as well as verbal and written communication skills.  

  • Demonstrated strong public speaking experience and influential executive interface.  

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills and positive demeanor; demonstrated partnering, coaching and mentoring skills.  

  • Proficiency with various software/computer programs including Microsoft Office Excel, Word PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet and willingness to learn new software programs or applications.  

  • Working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements, and Service Trades Union contracts, which vary domestically and globally.  

  • Availability and willingness to work weekends, holidays, and third shift; willingness to travel on assignments, domestically or internationally, including Disney Cruise Line, or as may be required. 

 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Minimum 10 years background combined which may entail business management, producing, or oversight and direction of a business or Team. 

  • Demonstrated experience or equivalent in the disciplines of live entertainment, theme parks, or related creative industry experience, with 3 years as a Producer, Business or executive Project Manager or equivalent. 

  • Willingness to work independently, and as part of a small dynamic team, bringing your unique perspective to a creative work culture. 

  • Lived or work experience in other countries, including across Asia, or in France. 

  • In addition to English, fluency in other language(s), e.g., (Mandarin, French, Japanese, Spanish, etc.) 

 

Required Education  

Bachelors or higher degree in a Business or Management related field. 

Preferred Education 

B.A. or B.S. in Theater, Entertainment, Event Management, Project Management, or equivalent preferred.

The pay rate for this role in Glendale, CA is $133,760 - $183,920 per year. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
