Job Description

Western Digital is seeking a Planner/Production Control specialist to manage material planning and purchasing. Key responsibilities include forecasting for suppliers to ensure supply continuity, resolving supplier issues related to price, quality, and delivery, and supporting purchasing functions to ensure smooth business operations. The role involves monitoring risks and opportunities, maintaining optimal inventory levels, preparing reports, and fostering strong supplier relationships. The ideal candidate will contribute to organizational goals by understanding and applying IMS policy. This position is crucial for enabling systems and meeting the massive data storage needs of the AI era, contributing to a smarter future.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 2-4 years procurement or planning experience
  • Knowledge of procurement activities
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain
  • Knowledge of MRP System
  • Negotiation skills
  • Coordination skills
  • Good command of English
  • Computer Literacy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Good to have:
  • Experience in Planning & ERP system development & deployment
  • Good understanding of manufacturing and production planning processes (MES and ERP)

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and purchase materials  in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets
  • Provide long term forecast to supplier to ensure continuity of supply
  • Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery issues
  • Support the purchasing function to other relevant departments to ensure smooth business operations
  • Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organization
  • Maintain proper inventory levels of materials used on a regular basis
  • Prepare reports and updates as and when required
  • Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications
  • Support all BCM necessary activities
  • Understand the IMS policy and be able to apply and contribute to the organization to achieve per intended outcome

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in any field
  • At least 2 - 4 years of procurement or planning role in electronic or manufacturing environment

PREFERRED:

  • Experience in Planning & ERP system development &deployment
  • Good understanding of manufacturing and production planning processes (MES and ERP)

SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of procurement activities, Supply Chain, MRP System
  • Negotiation, Coordination
  • Good command of spoken and written English
  • Computer Literacy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
