Who are we hiring?
The Post Producer is responsible for managing and tracking one or several projects through post production including bidding, editorial, audio, finishing & delivery of a final product to the most technically advanced venue in the world. They are required to manage all aspects of a show, from the initial post breakdown and bidding process to planning, scheduling, budgeting and tracking progress of internal departments and vendors. They must prepare for and manage the anticipated while also planning for and covering the unanticipated needs of the project. This position acts as a point of contact for all aspects of post production, and works with departments inside and outside of post including Creative, Capture, Production, Lab, VFX, IO, Audio, Editorial, 4D, Advanced Engineering, Deliverables & Show Programming. The position reports to the Director of Post Production.
What will you do?
- Manage the project(s) complex post production processes, communication, assets, and deliverables, driving the project ever forward to an on time/on budget delivery and successful programming in venue.
- Act as the informational and logistical hub for all post production processes, communicating progress and issues to executive leadership, external clients and internal departments.
- Own (and continually update) schedule and budget for all post as the project evolves:
- In Bidding – Advise on timing and best practices. Identify potential production problems and work with Show Producer & Supervisor to ensure creative decisions can be completed on schedule and within budget.
- Award Phase/Pre-Production – Finalize budget and schedule, account for in house resources and source external vendors including Editorial, Sound and Finishing teams as needed and within budget.
- Production/Post – Update budget/schedule against any changes/additions/subtractions.
- Staff and support editors (in-house or external)/editorial bays, either on site or remote.
- Write PO’s against budget, review and approve any Change Orders while working alongside executives, clients and any other stakeholders.
- Liaise with the creative team to help support creative within the scope of the content budget and schedule.
- Learn, retain, leverage and build upon the unique technical aspects of Sphere’s evolving post workflows, and make recommendations for improvements as needed.
- Accurate reporting to leadership on status of project(s).
- Own reviews both in person and remote, oversee secure distribution of review material across dailies, editorial & finishing utilizing in house tools and adhering to high security standards.
- Act as cheerleader and champion of the project(s), setting examples for the team and rallying departments through crunch time and delivery.
What do you need to succeed?
- 5+ years’ experience in post production as a Post Producer or Post Supervisor at a large studio/post house or production company with specific experience in post/VFX/digital/immersive production and the creation of special format media. Live event experience a plus.
- A deep understanding of technical aspects of post is required to deliver to the largest screen and most advanced venue in the world. Including but not limited to; resolutions, frame rates, file formats, delivery formats (including mixing formats within a single project), multiple codecs, experimental and established camera systems and multiple deliverable formats. Understanding of STmaps, LatLong mapping a huge plus.
- Able to liaison with and communicate technical needs of the project to supporting departments and understand what those departments need to successfully deliver assets, support and services to the project.
- Able to work independently and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to build up rapport and strong relationships across departments and the studio.
- Attention to detail and constantly looking for ways to improve operational efficiencies.
- Proficient user of Shotgrid, resource management tools, Sharepoint/One Drive, scheduling tools and Excel.
- Must have the ability to continuously be proactive with a passionate concern for quality.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
