Job Description

Lead publishing QA efforts for a game company. Manage external testing teams, plan resources, integrate with studio QA, coordinate compatibility and compliance testing, triage player-reported bugs, perform testing and verification (test case development and execution, user acceptance testing, live verification), and support game releases (submissions, certifications, compliance, store setups). Requires experience as a QA Lead or Submission Specialist on multiplatform console games, testing games through Sony's and Microsoft's ecosystems (Nintendo Switch experience a plus), deep understanding of console certification, submission requirements, and familiarity with territory age-rating and compliance requirements.

In this role, you will lead our publishing QA efforts as part of our publishing platform services team and interact with other teams around the company to drive testing on the experiences we are creating. This will include our player account portal, player-reported bugs, compatibility testing, compliance testing, various marketing initiatives, and of course the games themselves! In addition, you will assist with first-party submissions, content ratings, and compliance for platform-certification requirements when necessary. 


This is a fixed-term role with an initial estimated duration of six months.

You Will:

  • Act as an advocate for publishing QA throughout the company, offering services and expertise to teams in need
  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of external testing teams
  • Assist with long-term planning and resource allocation for publishing QA initiatives
  • Work with studio QA leads to integrate publishing QA into their development roadmaps
  • Coordinate external testers for compatibility and compliance testing
  • Oversee the daily triaging of player-reported bugs across the game portfolio to ensure timely resolutions
  • Testing and verification:
    • Develop and execute test cases for our central platform's interactions with games
    • Perform user acceptance testing for the publishing platform ecosystem
    • Create and execute live verification test cases for games, including patches, first-party stores, in-game events, and commerce systems
    • Provide functional testing support for the internal platform engineering team
  • Release support:
    • Assist with game submission, certification, compliance, store setups, and general release processes
    • Support territory-rating requirements and processes

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a QA Lead or Submission Specialist on a multiplatform console game
  • Experience testing a game from a precertification pass to a fully certified release through Sony’s and Microsoft’s ecosystems; Nintendo Switch certification experience is a plus
  • Deep understanding of console certification, submission requirements, waivers, and various distribution platform web portals and processes
  • Familiarity with territory age-rating and compliance requirements and processes, such as the ESRB, PEGI, etc.
  • Knowledge of how to test games for the Steam, Xbox, or PlayStation stores, including usage and configuration of the corresponding developer portals
  • Knowledge of game development tools, such as console devkits, Perforce, and build tools
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders


The base salary range for this position is $86,313 to $143,855 USD per year, which is associated with our Level 3 salary band. The range listed for this position is just one component of Dreamhaven’s total compensation package for team members; exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience.
