The Release Manager for Steel Hunters (a free-to-play mech shooter) at Wargaming will be responsible for building and implementing release management functions across large, complex projects. The position is based in Guildford, UK (hybrid) and reports to the QA Director. Responsibilities include establishing release pipelines, managing stakeholder expectations, and identifying process improvements.

We are looking for an experienced Release Manager, whilst you won’t be managing a team but you’ll be directly responsible for building Release management functions, across large interconnected complex projects. You’ll work closely with leads, producers and project managers, across all departments, to understand project needs, to scale our efforts appropriately. You will own the guidelines and policies for release management in all aspects and work independently to set best practices.

The ideal candidate will have experience both building as well as running QA and release management in the global, free-to-play games industry.

Reports to

This position is based in Guildford (hybrid), UK and reports to the QA Director.

What will you do?

  • Be responsible for overall release planning and implement release management function for a cross-platform free-to-play service game, across all locations
  • Establish and maintain best release pipeline practices
  • Regularly review release progress against plans
  • Regularly review release content and scope to identify and communicate any increase in risk, impact or issues relating to the role-associated area of responsibility
  • Ensure release readiness for pre-production and production check points
  • Drive release management improvements with close collaboration with other teams
  • Be the point of contact for the areas of responsibility
  • Own the risk management in the areas of responsibility
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve overall game quality and development methods
  • Reflect on the outcomes of a release and identify, deliver, and communicate resulting process improvements
  •  Be responsible for communicating and championing the release process to all levels of the business
