Overview

Matic is bringing families out of the stone age of remarkably dumb disc home robots. Humanity spends ~2.5 trillion hours annually on home chores, worth $25 trillion in wasted economic value at $10/hour. We are on a mission to recapture this time and value with fully autonomous, useful, elegant, and affordable Wall-E-esque home robots that families love and cannot fathom their lives without.

Our approach
In 2017, we observed 200+ self-driving car startups and an equal number of industrial robotics startups, but the home autonomy and robotics space had been dramatically overlooked. While AI is becoming more ubiquitous, families are still stuck spending dozens of hours per week on repetitive household chores.

At Matic, we're leveraging advanced technology to address this problem. We've started by reimagining our first product in fully autonomous floor-cleaning robots. Just like consumers adopted Cell Phones, then PDAs, then iPods and Blackberries before adopting the iPhone to replace all, we believe that consumers will adopt single-purpose, elegant, and affordable robots that belong and become part of their homes first before we get one-robot-to-rule all chores.

Our goal is to continue automating other forms of household labor, shipping useful, affordable, and privacy-first robots to our users that solve real problems while building iteratively toward more complex tasks and capabilities over time.

Privacy first

Our robots are also private by design, with all the computes on the edge device. We believe that families shouldn't have to jeopardize their privacy just to get some help with the constant drudgery of home chores.

Who we are
We are a consumer robotics product company solving real customer problems. We start with a problem, think of an elegant solution in the form of robots, and conduct necessary research to build products that just work. We believe families want solutions to their problems, and AI & robots enable us to solve them.

Who we are NOT
We are NOT a Robotics Foundation Model research lab, a humanoid builder, or a robotics software platform company. We build fully autonomous, useful, elegant, and affordable Wall-E-esque robotic products that kids, pets, and families love!

About the role

Do you have a passion for robotics and a keen interest in the supply chain?

We are seeking a Supply Chain Intern to join our team and contribute to the growth of our robotics products starting immediately. In this role, you'll support our supply chain operations by focusing on inventory management, global sourcing, and procurement processes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to dive into the world of robotics and gain hands-on experience in optimizing supply chain efficiencies.

This is an ideal role for a candidate with a passion for robotics and a keen interest in the supply chain.

What you'll do

Inventory Management & Optimization

  • Develop inventory management processes for receiving, inventory, and material movement

  • Define and implement inventory management policies – storage locations, inventory movements (WIP) and transfers

  • Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted production of robotics components and assemblies

  • Forecast demand and stock replenishments to align with production schedules

  • Perform regular inventory audits, cycle counts, and reconciliations to ensure data accuracy

  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory and recommend actions to minimize waste

  • Maintain the integrity of virtual and physical inventory systems through regular updates based on goods received, parts outgoing, and transfers to workstations

  • Take ownership of all incoming freight, standard carrier deliveries, and in-house parts

  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and potential partners while promoting the company values and initiatives

  • Design and implement supply chain optimization projects

Global Supply Chain Sourcing & Procurement

  • Support the sourcing of components, raw materials, and specialized parts from global suppliers, ensuring adherence to cost, quality, and delivery targets.

  • Assist in evaluating and qualifying new suppliers to diversify the supply base.

  • Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, technology trends, and cost-saving opportunities.

  • Assist with supplier negotiations to secure favorable terms, pricing, and lead times.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Collect and analyze data on inventory turnover, supplier performance, and cost metrics to identify trends and improvement areas.

  • Develop reports and dashboards to visualize key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor inventory, BOM Costs, etc., and communicate insights to the team.

  • Use data to support decision-making in procurement strategies and inventory management.

Logistics & Supply Chain Coordination

  • Coordinate with logistics providers to ensure on-time delivery of inbound shipments and outbound orders

  • Assist in managing international shipping documentation and compliance for import/export activities

  • Support the planning and execution of supply chain projects, focusing on lead time reduction and cost efficiency

  • Help streamline logistics processes to reduce delays and optimize supply chain flow

What We Look For

  • Problem-solving mindset: Ability to think critically and find solutions to supply chain challenges

  • Detail-oriented: Strong attention to detail in managing inventory records and supplier documentation

  • Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with internal teams and external partners

  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities

  • Proactive learner: Eagerness to learn about robotics and its unique supply chain requirements

  • Self-starter: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team setting

  • Organized: Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently

  • Passion for robotics: Interest in the latest technologies and trends in robotics and automation

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in supply chain management, Operations, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering, Business, or a related field.

  • Basic understanding of supply chain management, procurement, logistics, and inventory control principles

  • Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)

  • Experience with Supply chain systems like ERP, Inventory Management, Quality Management, and Product life cycle management

We'd love to hear from you if...

  • You are driven by a high degree of ownership and autonomy

  • You are looking for greater scope in your role to help define a new (and integral) function in our organization

  • You are genuinely motivated to help those around you

  • You are passionate about learning outside of your normal comfort zones

  • You love diagnosing complex technical issues

  • You are excited to do great work
