Job Description
Tala is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join their team and contribute to their life-changing financial services app. The role involves developing features for a large global user base, with a focus on creating excellent user experiences. Responsibilities include cloning the Android app for the Indian market, supporting it with feature updates, delivering customer-focused features that prioritize polish, stability, and security, and establishing best practices for Android engineering. The engineer will also develop/improve complex features and provide guidance on integrating with external partners, as well as participate in refactoring the current codebase for better abstraction and modularization.
Must have:
- 5+ years as an Android Engineer
- 3-5+ years experience with Kotlin
- 1-3+ years experience with MVVM/coroutines/flows
- 1+ year experience with Jetpack Compose
- Expertise in AI aided development

The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Android Engineer to contribute to our life-changing financial services app. In this role, you’ll join the elite team of Android engineers developing features for our large global user base. Enthusiasm and drive for crafting a great user experience is a must. If you enjoy taking a complicated idea/process and simplifying it for the user into a beautiful and compelling experience, then our team may be the right place for you.
What You'll Do
- Responsible for cloning the Android app into the India app, and thereafter supporting it with feature updates.
- Deliver customer-focused features that prioritize polish, stability, and security
- Help establish, improve, and exemplify best practices for Android engineering
- Develop/improve complex features for current and future supported countriesProvide guidance when integrating with external partners (tracking, payment/KYC, support, etc.)
- Participate in refactoring the current codebase to achieve better abstraction and modularization
What You'll Need
- 5+ years working as an Android Engineer
- Kotlin (3-5 years+)
- MVVM/coroutines/flows (1-3+ years)
- Jetpack Compose (1 year+)
- Expert in AI aided development, including context management and prompt creation. Is up to date on existing technologies including Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude. Uses CoPilot, VSCode or similar. Is able to implement AI-created work in many/most situations
