Job Description

As a Senior Data Analyst at Epic Games, you'll design and implement a robust telemetry system for live service games, enabling developers to use real-time data to improve the game ecosystem. This role requires strong technical skills, product strategy acumen, and a deep understanding of live service games and user-generated content. Responsibilities include problem-solving, strategic partnership management, end-to-end analytics ownership (data modeling, metrics creation, reporting, and insightful analysis to boost developer experience and engagement), and cross-functional collaboration with product, marketing, legal, and technology teams. You will work with large datasets (billions of rows) using SQL and potentially distributed computing technologies like Spark.
Must have:
  • 7+ years of experience in live service video games
  • Strong understanding of LiveOps and GaaS (mobile focus)
  • Product intuition and data-driven product influence
  • Experience instrumenting data and ensuring quality
  • Efficient and scalable SQL (billions of rows), Spark a plus
Good to have:
  • Causal inference methods and experimental design
  • Advanced statistical/economic modeling
  • Full-stack experience (data ingest, ETL, storage, application development)
  • Experience with code version control (Github), orchestration (Airflow)

What You'll Do

Use your expert experience in data & analytics to design and deliver a robust telemetry system and then enable developers to use that data in real-time to cultivate a thriving game ecosystem. The successful candidate will have great technical capabilities, an aptitude for product strategy, and a deep understanding of both live service games and user-generated content ecosystems.

In this role, you will

  • Problem Solving and Critical Thinking: Break down ambiguous problems, understand the pieces that really matter, and drive product improvements with the insights uncovered
  • Strategic Partner Management and Execution: Work with your Product counterparts to identify and evaluate market trends, opportunities, and competition to inform strategic decisions and collaborate with senior leadership to align initiatives with overall company goals
  • End-to-End Analytics Ownership: Transform raw data into data models, production metrics, scaled reporting, and insights to improve developer experience and engagement
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, marketing, legal, and technology teams to ensure seamless execution of initiatives; coordinate with internal stakeholders to align on goals and priorities and facilitate effective communication and collaboration across departments

What we're looking for

  • 7+ years of industry or relevant experience, with proven interest in and knowledge of live service video games
  • Strong understanding of LiveOps and GaaS platforms (especially mobile) and where the market is trending
  • Strong product intuition and demonstrated background in influencing products by applying data and measurement to drive alignment
  • Experience with working with development teams to instrument data and ensure continued data quality
  • Experience with writing efficient and scalable SQL over billions of rows; it is a plus if you are familiar with distributed computing using Spark (Scala or PySpark)
  • Familiarity with supporting operational processes including code version control (Github or similar), orchestration (Airflow)
  • Experience with a variety of causal inference methods and experimental design
  • Experience with advanced statistical and/or economic modeling is a plus
  • Experience in a “full-stack” environment - data file ingest, ETL, data storage interaction, application development, communication of results to storage systems, and code version control is a plus
  • Passion for games, analytics, and user-generated content platforms

This role is open to multiple locations across the US (including CA, NYC, & WA).

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

$136,410$200,068 USD
Washington Base Pay Range
$124,009$181,880 USD
