Summary

The Senior Director of eCommerce Engineering at Wizards of the Coast will lead multiple engineering teams, driving innovation and delivering eCommerce solutions for global direct-to-consumer and B2B channels (Hasbro Pulse, D&D Beyond). Responsibilities include collaborating across teams to plan and deliver solutions, developing the technical roadmap aligned with eCommerce strategies, mentoring engineers, prioritizing capabilities, solving complex problems, ensuring quality and change control standards, developing scalable solutions, and anticipating partner needs. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field) with 10+ years of experience leading engineering organizations, deep eCommerce technology knowledge, experience with headless commerce solutions, expertise in open-source technologies (React, React Native, Node.js), and strong leadership skills.

Are you a technology leader passionate about creating seamless, immersive experiences for players and customers? At Wizards of the Coast, we’re looking for a Senior Director of Software Development Engineering to drive innovation and deliver eCommerce solutions that support both our global direct-to-consumer and business-to-business channels, such as Hasbro Pulse and D&D Beyond (DDB) marketplace.

 

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with functional and technical leaders to shape and implement strategic technology solutions that enhance how our community interacts with our products. As a leader, you’ll oversee multiple technical teams, using open-source technologies and headless architecture to deliver exceptional, player-focused experiences.
 

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborating across teams to plan and deliver solutions that meet the evolving needs of players and customers.
  • Developing a deep understanding of the business and driving the technical roadmap to align with our eCommerce strategies.
  • Leading and mentoring multiple teams of engineers, fostering an environment of creativity, innovation, and growth.
  • Partnering with product and technical teams to plan and prioritize capabilities that support both short- and long-term goals.
  • Applying your technical expertise and leadership to solve complex problems and drive business growth.
  • Ensuring that all quality and change control standards are met, while documenting and reviewing processes.
  • Developing and implementing reliable, scalable, and repeatable solutions that drive operational excellence.
  • Anticipating the needs of internal and external partners and adapting technical solutions accordingly.


What You’ll Bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with 10+ years of experience leading an engineering organization.
  • Deep knowledge of eCommerce technologies, with a proven track record of leading teams to align with business goals.
  • Hands-on experience implementing headless commerce solutions, and the ability to serve as a technical architect and mentor to the team.
  • Solid understanding of web app performance optimization, security, and usability principles.
  • Expertise in open-source technologies, including React, React Native, and Node.js.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and manage projects while effectively communicating with senior management.
  • Familiarity with SFRA/SFCC, Magento, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • A global perspective with experience working across international teams.

Compensation Range (USD):

Starting: $194,300
Ending: $316,200
