As a software developer, you will play a key role in the delivery of complex technical software solutions for the Surveillance and Regulatory organizations and will be part of discovering new technologies within the FinTech industry.

We are now looking for a software developer with strong java skills to strengthen the team in Mumbai. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of complex software solutions for the Nasdaq Market Surveillance System.

With this position we offer:
Join the development technology organization for Nasdaq Market Surveillance. The main objective for the development team in Mumbai is to build state of the art surveillance software for the Surveillance and Regulatory teams. As our new member, you will work with a group of enthusiastic and experienced team members. Together with your team, you will be responsible for delivery of enhancements and supporting rearchitecture of the enterprise product to new software paradigms.

Your role and responsibilities:

You will be a member of a cross-functional team across the globe, delivering critical solutions and services to our world-leading Market Surveillance team. You will be responsible for essential development activities and internal customer interaction, often working to build strong relations and trust with your client. 

 In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a strong experienced team delivering complex technology solutions to our internal clients. You will work with and learn from subject matter experts, and have the opportunity to take on more responsibility and progress within the development team.  Besides working closely with your colleagues in Mumbai, you will also work closely with Nasdaq teams in other countries.

Furthermore, you will: 

  • Learning Nasdaq’s NMS Surveillance suite of products including Nasdaq’s proprietary Alice programming language for developing pattern-detection data mining algorithms.
  • Integrating trading system and back office reference data into the NMS products.
  • Developing new complex functionality and maintain the existing codebase in an environment handling large volumes of data and high demands for high availability.
  • Modify existing internal software products to add to new functions, adapt to new hardware, improve performance, or enhance product usability.
  • Work with all stages of the product life cycle; requirements, design, implementation, testing, release deployment, troubleshooting, maintenance, improvement, capacity planning, performance monitoring, and alert monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain software in Nasdaq’s proprietary NMS software product (alice programming language) as well as Java.
  • Support the production environment before, during, and after market trading sessions.
  • Support weekend capacity testing and prepare capacity test reports.
  • Codes, tests, debugs and implements and maintains software solutions with some assistance on complex development tasks.
  • Supports develops, tests, debugs and implements operating systems components, software tools and utilities with limited supervision.
  • Develops security solutions for routine assignments progressing to assignments with increasing complexity. 
  • Provides application software development services or technical support, typically in a defined project often learning from more experienced peers.
  • Develops program logic for new applications or analyses and modifies logic in existing applications, often learning on the job from more senior colleagues as size of the challenge increases.
  • Modifies existing internal software products to add new functions, adapt to new hardware, improve performance or enhance product usability under limited supervision.
  • Implements and monitors routine system improvements to ensure successful installation and increased efficiency.
  • Ensures that applications are compatible across multiple computing platforms and browsers.

We expect you to have:

  • At least 3 years of software development experience.
  • A strong foundation in computer science, with proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript.
  • A passion for technology and innovation, with a willingness to learn new skills and tools.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
  • A problem-solving attitude, with the ability to analyze requirements, design solutions, and debug issues.
  • A quality-oriented approach, with the ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code.
  • A curiosity for the financial industry, with an interest in learning about the markets, products, and services that Nasdaq offers.
  • Education Qualification: Degree qualitified in a discipline related to Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.

It would be great if you

  • Knowledge on Java and Python is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle is preferred.
  • Knowledge of SQL query language is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Nasdaq’s proprietary Alice programming language is a plus.
