Powered by AI and an unmatched set of cloud, internet and enterprise network telemetry data, ThousandEyes enables IT teams to proactively detect, diagnose, and remediate issues – before they impact end- user experiences.

ThousandEyes is deeply integrated across the entire Cisco technology portfolio and beyond, helping customers deploy at scale while also delivering AI-powered assurance insights within Cisco’s leading Networking, Security, Collaboration, and Observability portfolios.

About The Role

The Application Window is expected to close on 8/11/25. However, the job posting may be removed earlier if the position is filled or if a sufficient number of applications are received.

Are you a software engineer or software-minded reliability/security engineer searching for a growth environment that values velocity without compromising on doing things “right”, that invests in security, observability, and assurance both for our peers in engineering as well as for our customers, and works to expand our reach into new addressable markets as we continue to grow?

Our reliability org maintains agency for the availability, latency, security, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, and production excellence for our services and our software development teams. This software engineering role will operate across our Infrastructure and FedRAMP reliability engineering teams, with a focus on building automation, tooling, and “always-on software-defined procedures” for our constantly growing infrastructure and FedRAMP platforms. We believe in operations/infrastructure/everything as code, which makes our distributed team efficient, functional, and very effective.

You Can Expect To Work On

You will be an integral part of designing and building large-scale highly available distributed systems in the cloud, along with all the mechanisms needed to sustain and scale it efficiently . You will collaborate with our security technical leadership, our application development teams, as well as our site reliability engineers, to develop and maintain software and artificial intelligence that assumes the burden of delivery currently borne by humans. As part of the team, you will work cross-functionally to ensure that we build and deploy code that frees us humans to focus only on the fun stuff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficient in writing high-quality code in Python, Go, or equivalent languages.
  • Some experience, and a yearning to grow, in the InfoSec space.
  • Experience in building for Unix/Linux systems, with a knowledge of the development ecosystem to build out client-server and headless solutions.
  • Infrastructure as Code skills, ideally with Terraform, Puppet, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience working with AWS.
  • Drive and build automation wherever possible, enabling our infrastructure and platforms to scale thoughtfully.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to design and implement scalable and well-tested solutions.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Strong sense of ownership, drive, and passion for attention to detail.

Cisco values the perspectives and skills that emerge from employees with diverse backgrounds. That's why Cisco is expanding the boundaries of discovering top talent by not only focusing on candidates with educational degrees and experience but also placing more emphasis on unlocking potential. We believe that everyone has something to offer and that diverse teams are better equipped to solve problems, innovate, and create a positive impact.

We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification. Research shows that people from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy. We urge you not to prematurely exclude yourself and to apply if you're interested in this work.
