Gunzilla Games seeks a Senior Technical Artist - VFX/Shaders for their AAA Extraction Battle Royale shooter, Off The Grid. Responsibilities include creating and optimizing VFX and shaders in Unreal Engine (or similar), utilizing Niagara Systems, and managing the VFX pipeline. The role requires expertise in material graphs, shader optimization, and collaboration with other departments. Candidates should have experience shipping AAA titles and familiarity with profiling tools. The position involves working on new features, mentoring junior artists, and maintaining up-to-date documentation.
Must have:
  • Experience with VFX and shaders in Unreal Engine
  • Proficiency in Niagara Systems
  • Ability to author module scripts
  • Experience with Blueprints
  • Shipped AAA title as a VFX Artist
Good to have:
  • Experience with Validation & Automation Tools for VFX
  • Houdini to Unreal VFX Experience

ABOUT THE JOB

Gunzilla Games is looking for a Senior Technical Artist - VFX/Shaders to join us in working on OTG (Off The Grid), an all-new AAA Extraction Battle Royale shooter, currently available as Early Access on PlayStation®5, Xbox® Series X|S, and PC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with VFX and Shaders in Unreal or similar engines to create new features.
  • Create and optimize Niagara Systems.
  • Take responsibility for the VFX pipeline, briefing, mentoring/informing VFX Artists on best practices, validation/reviews and keeping documentation up to date.
  • Confidence in the Material Graph inside Unreal to create any shaders and VFX, and knowledge on how to optimize for performance.
  • Working with other departments such as Design, VFX and Env Art to support shaders and VFX.
  • Stay current with industry trends and techniques to continuously improve our VFX pipeline.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with VFX and Shaders in Unreal or similar engines, preferably Niagara.
  • Able to author module scripts.
  • Experience with Blueprints
  • Experience with Unreal Insights or any profiling tools such as Pix or RenderDoc to diagnose VFX/Rendering performance bottlenecks
  • Previously shipped AAA title as a VFX Artist.
