Scopely seeks a Senior UX Designer to enhance their Yahtzee with Buddies game. Responsibilities include applying UX knowledge to improve gameplay, developing player journeys, iterating based on feedback, leading UX workshops, participating in ideation and pre-production, staying current with industry trends, collaborating with cross-functional teams (UI, Art, Product, Game Design), and ensuring a cohesive game identity. The ideal candidate has 2-3 years of game UX design experience (mobile preferred), a player-first mindset, and proficiency in Figma and design systems. They should be able to conduct user research, testing, and feedback loops, and effectively communicate design concepts using various tools.

Description

Scopely is looking for a SR UX Designer to join our Yahtzee with buddies team in Barcelona on a hybrid basis.

Yahtzee with buddies is one of our casual free-to-play mobile games and is a classic board game with a new look. The team is based in Europe and the US, and works every day to create captivating new experiences for our players.
 
What You Will Do 
  • Apply your UX knowledge and with players feedback to help improve and evolve the current game experience
  • Develop the player journey for each feature to ensure a delightful end-to-end experience for the players.
  • Iterate using player and team feedback to enhance simplicity, comprehension, and seamless experiences, while improving features to ensure they are fun, engaging, and easy to understand
  • Lead UX workshops to influence and facilitate a co-design methodology among your colleagues.
  • Be a key person during the ideation and pre-production process for new features. You will take a hands-on approach to the development process to ensure we deliver the best user experience.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and competitors by following and incorporating the latest UX design thinking practices throughout the ideation and design process
  • Work closely with UI, Art, Product, Game Design and UX leadership to define and establish a cohesive identity and language over the game.
  • Collaborate closely with UI designers in the creation of their UI frameworks that leads to visible, accessible, user-friendly and engaging features.
  • Apply and advocate to maintain a unified user flow throughout gameplay features and systems.

What We’re Looking For 

  • Ideally at least 2-3 years of experience designing engaging UX for games, with a strong preference for mobile platforms
  • Ability to lead the design of useful, usable, and desirable products in a cross team environment.
  • Player-first mindset. Consider our players in every part of the design process and advocate for them in the team bringing User Centered Design tools to ensure that our players are in every conversation.
  • Ability to develop and communicate complex systems on different layers using wireframes, customer journey, user flow, mockups, prototypes and storyboards.
  • Understand player needs by independently conducting customer research, user testing, and establishing feedback loops.
  • Ability to work well within a dynamic, cross-discipline, and iterative team environment
  • Self-motivated and collaborative, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both in-person and remotely.
  • You thrive in a collaborative environment while maintaining a positive and humble mindset. Your approach to giving and receiving feedback is objective and open-minded!
  • Awareness of current trends in casual mobile games.
  • You have a deep passion for creating polished and innovative gameplay experiences for casual mobile games.
  • You have a strong eye for visual design and an understanding of visual communication.
  • You have strong understanding of game design and design theory
  • Proficient in Figma and the creation of Design Systems.
