The Sr Analyst, Controllership M&A at Nielsen supports the Business Development team, Finance Integration leaders, and CFO on technical accounting matters related to M&A projects. Responsibilities include due diligence on target assets, researching accounting guidance, formulating technical accounting positions, and managing Controllership workflows. The role involves project management, leading internal control assessments, and executing divestiture projects. This position requires providing accounting advice on various aspects of acquisitions and divestitures, including intangible valuations and transaction cost treatments. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills and experience in M&A transactions.

Sr Analyst, Controllership M&A







Responsibilities:

    • Support the Business Development team, Finance Integration leaders, controllership and CFO on technical accounting matters related to M&A projects including business combinations, purchase accounting, and opening balance sheet, as well as perform due diligence on target assets and matters related to integration.
    • Research accounting guidance, formulate technical accounting positions, and draft memos for transactions and review conclusions with the Controllership M&A team and external auditors or advisors as required.
    • Manage and update a dashboard of Controllership workflows on acquisition and divestiture projects.
    • Maintain standard due diligence and integration task lists for Finance and Controllership, and  drive outcomes.
    • Provide project management guidance to CFO, Director-level Corporate Business Development execution leaders, and Tax and Treasury team members on cross-functional teams related to acquisitions and divestitures.
    • Lead internal control assessments during due diligence, identify detailed acquisition integration timelines and track progress toward completion using standard work and dashboards.
    • Lead the execution of Divestiture projects, including carve-out financial statement audits, transaction close and gain/loss accounting, financial separation and transition service agreements. Provide support to separation teams as required.
    • Provide accounting advice to acquisition and divestiture models including intangible valuations, transaction cost and investment treatments, gain/loss on sale calculations, and joint venture consolidation.

Education:

    • CPA or a professional degree in finance

A reasonable estimate of salary range for a new employee to be offered this role would be between $50,000-$185,000 which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location.  The position of each employee within a compensation range at Nielsen is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications and other business requirements/needs
