Job Description

As a Senior Software Systems Engineer at Sabre, you will be responsible for reviewing scheduled discovery jobs, troubleshooting errors, and maintaining the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). You will collaborate with internal teams to onboard new devices and applications, develop discovery patterns, and support various discovery methods. Your work will involve understanding how the Information Resource Environment (IRE) functions, experience in discovering and creating devices in CMDB, and knowledge of IP-based and cloud discovery. You will also be responsible for installing and maintaining applications from the ServiceNow store. The role requires independent work with minimal supervision.
Must have:

  • Experience in discovering and creating new devices in CMDB.
  • Understanding of IP-based and cloud discovery.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow application installation and maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Good to have:
  • Knowledge of discovery protocols like SSH, WMI, SNMP, GCP, and AWS cloud discovery.
  • ServiceNow development experience (pattern development, scripting).
  • Knowledge of building and configuring hosts in GCP/AWS with MID server connection.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Review of scheduled discovery jobs that include observing trends, identifying and troubleshooting discovery related errors

  • Aid to maintain CMDB that is without stale and orphan records and useful for ITSM processes (mostly change and incident)

  • Work with internal teams to onboard new devices and applications and allowing them to be automatically discovered and registered in CMDB

  • Develop discovery patterns to aid with the discovery process (creating new patterns for new device types or updating existing patterns to fetch additional data)

  • Support various discovery methods such as OOB Discovery and Service Graph Connectors (e.g., Intune)

Must Have Skills:

  • Understanding how IRE works and how records are created and updated in CMDB

  • Past experience of getting new devices discovered and created in CMDB (e.g., what to do to discover a Windows/Linux server)

  • Understanding of how IP-based and cloud discovery (AWS/GCP) works and the difference between REST-based discovery and IP-based discovery

  • Knowledge of how to install new applications from the ServiceNow store, how to maintain them, how to install updates, how to resolve skipped changes, how to review release notes for new patches or family release

  • Ability to work on your own with minimal supervision to complete assigned tasks

Nice To Have Skills:

  • Knowledge of discovery protocols SSH, WMI, SNMP, GCP and AWS cloud discovery using patterns and/or Service Graph Connectors

  • ServiceNow development (developing new patterns or custom applications, server-side scripting, being able to understand how things are working by looking at the code and not just documentation)

  • Knowledge of how to build a new host in GCP/AWS, configure a MID server on it, connect it to the ServiceNow instance, and troubleshoot any issues along the way
