About the role
The Observability team builds and manages the single telemetry and observability service used by all product teams on the Smarsh platform. It provides "as a service" telemetry, monitoring, and visualization capabilities that enable our product teams to operate, support, and triage the applications and services under their product portfolio.

As a Technical Product Manager on the Observability team, you are responsible for defining the direction and roadmap for the Observability product to enable our downstream product team to build highly reliable products. You will work with business, engineering, and other teams to -
· Build products that provide a correlated, high-fidelity point of view into the Metrics, Events, Logs, and Trace data for real-time dashboards, monitoring, and analytics.
· Build new features that help improve overall Day 2 capabilities and SLAs on downstream product teams.
· Build products and capabilities that drive organization-wide improvements in MTTR, uptime, and other metrics.
· Enable product teams to deploy, measure, and track key product markers towards feature experiments, idea validation, and end-user behavior.

Essential Functions

    • Develop product strategy vision and roadmaps, and develop short, medium and long-term features to achieve the vision.
    • Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners.
    • Develop detailed, crisp business (functional & non-functional) requirements and user stories that can be used to create product specifications and architecture for each product and application.
    • Work closely with engineering teams to deliver products to market.
    • Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet strategic, financial, and technical goals.
    • Proactively identify collisions of capacity and utilize stand prioritization matrices to determine the best course of action.
    • Work with team leadership to understand the customer and their needs and concerns as well as define solutions.
    • Support project lead in efficient and effective program implementation.
    • Champion and gain buy-in for the strategy and roadmap from partner teams through collaboration, documentation, and negotiation that effectively influences peers and senior management.
    • Develop user experience goals, stories and requirements that will be used to drive product specifications.

Education and Experience

    • 5+ years of Product Management experience; bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, design, or related field; or equivalent work experience
    • Experience launching Enterprise products, must have done pricing for Enterprise products. Experience working cross functionally (design, engineering, usability, content development).
    • Analytical and quantitative skills; experience using hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases.
    • Deep understanding and experience in software architecture/software engineering.
    • Experience working with diverse groups of people to manage and influence change broad technical breadth and depth including familiarity with web services, and platform architectures.
