IO Interactive seeks a talented Audio Programmer to contribute to their game projects, Project 007 and Project Fantasy. Responsibilities include designing and implementing audio features and tools for their Glacier engine, optimizing runtime code, developing audio systems (propagation, reverb, reflections), collaborating with sound designers, and maintaining existing systems. The ideal candidate possesses C++ experience, understands game engines and audio content creation, and is proficient in writing efficient code. Experience with 3D audio and audio middleware (Wwise, FMod) is highly desirable.

Job Details

IO Interactive is seeking a talented Audio Programmer to join our team on our backbone team. We are currently working on two exciting game projects: Project 007 and Project Fantasy. Project 007 is a brand-new James Bond video game featuring an entirely original Bond story, and Project Fantasy is an ambitious new IP for console and PC that will revolutionize the online fantasy RPG genre.

As we work on these exciting projects, we need a skilled professional to assist us in the development of our state-of-the-art propriety game development engine, Glacier.

Your closest sparring partners will be our Audio Programmers, the CoreEngine team and, of course, our sound design team, who are all very eager to have you on board! Day to day you will be collaborating closely with our sound designers, Technical Directors, Producers and Gameplay Programmers to define the roadmap that will ensure cutting-edge AAA audio, on all our projects.

What you will do:

  • Design and implement audio features and tools for our bespoke engine, Glacier. You will work in-engine, improving, prioritizing and optimizing and runtime code that executes the game.
  • Work on audio development and systems: workflows, tooling and developing audio systems, by both working individually but also in collaboration with our Audio Programmer. Ex: propagation system, reverb, early vs late reflections etc.
  • Maintain, optimize and improve existing systems.
  • Work closely with sound designers to help them create top-notch audio experience.

 

Who you are:

  • Work experience as an audio programmer (C++).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related.
  • Experience writing runtime and memory-efficient code, debugging, and maintaining complex software systems.
  • Familiarity or understanding of game engines, gameplay programming concepts, audio, and audio content creation.

 

We would love if you have:

  • 3D audio experience. 
  • Experience with Wwise, FMod, or other audio middleware.

About The Company

IO Interactive is a 25-year old, AAA independent game studio, creators of HITMAN, Kane & Lynch, Mini Ninjas and Freedom Fighters. We are currently working on Project 007, Project Fantasy, and continue to develop Glacier, our award-winning game engine.


We are a diverse team of designers, producers, artists, programmers and operations supporters from 40+ different nationalities, working on cutting-edge technology and state-of-the-art game design.


The creative teams involved in producing our games are supported by our tech department, which delivers our own Glacier engine, and the incubation department, which helps the team to prototype new and exciting features, game mechanics, or even brand new IPs.


We know that the gaming world is in constant change – and so is IOI - but no matter what we do, we can assure you that it will not be boring.


IO Interactive was established in September 1998. The IO Interactive technology team consists of programmers, software engineers and mathematicians with considerable experience in game programming and 3D graphics. Graphic designers, artists and animators are recruited from the game and entertainment industry, as well as the best art schools from all over the world.
