In this role, you will be part of the reimagining of The Sims that players know and love. The Sims is one of the top-selling PC game franchises of all time and The Sims 4 is by far our most successful Sims game. We have more than 70 million registered players of the base game. To date, The Sims 4 has shipped over 60 content packs and countless base game feature and quality of life updates. The Sims 4 continues to transcend being “just a game” and continues to be a positive force in people’s lives while occupying a unique creative space in the game industry.
Location (Hybrid 3 days/week): Vancouver
As an Experience Designer with Maxis, you will report to the Development Director. You will partner with engineers, game designers, researchers, and producers to develop user interfaces, iconography, and related systems.
Responsibilities:
You will create user-centered design processes and solutions that are informed by player data while maintaining and following an existing design system.
You will create UX artifacts including experience maps, player flows, screens, content states, wireframes, and prototypes that promote ease of use and are engaging while balancing player, business, and technical goals.
You will create UI artifacts including iconography, UI mockups, and implement UI in-engine.
You will conduct user research, support our research team's efforts, and collect and analyze community sentiments on the web.
You will be an advocate for usability, inclusiveness, and accessibility.
Qualifications:
At least 4 years of UX/UI experience as a UX designer, visual designer, UI artist, product designer or similar role.
A portfolio demonstrating user-centered designs across multiple digital products, including creating research and data-informed designs that meet player needs.
Experience with user research methodologies and user data analysis.
Knowledge of usability principles and designing for accessibility, diversity, and inclusivity.
Visual design skills (i.e., composition, iconography, layout, typography, and color theory).
Experience with end-to-end development from the UX and UI phase and familiarity with technical UI authoring frameworks and experience implementing in-engine.
Comfortable presenting cohesive design approaches to non-design audiences.
Proficiency in modern design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Sketch.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). - British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria)
- $89,300 - $123,000 CAD
In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
