Job Description

ByteDance's Language Center team seeks a Language Specialist - Translation and Interpretation to provide essential language support to our engineers, facilitating effective communication and collaboration among RD teams globally. You will collaborate closely with R&D teams and language experts to assess work meetings, ensure clear communication of the intended meaning, and provide valuable feedback. This role also involves translating technical documents, providing simultaneous interpretation support during work meetings, monitoring and proofreading translation output, compiling and maintaining glossaries, and performing other language-related tasks as requested. You will also accurately annotate Chinese/English data for model training, ensuring consistency and accuracy throughout the process.

Must have:

Work experience in translation/interpretation
Ability to translate technical and general documents
Bachelor's Degree in translation/interpretation
Strong English communication skills
Self-motivated and independent work ethic
Experience in simultaneous interpretation between Chinese and English

Good to have:

Relevant translation experience in the technology field

What You Will Do - Collaborate closely with R&D teams and language experts to assess work meetings, ensure clear communication of the intended meaning, providing valuable feedback. - Translate technical documents and provide simultaneous interpretation support during work meetings. - Monitor and proofread translation output from both internal and outsourced translators. - Compile and maintain glossaries and perform other language-related tasks as requested by senior team members. - Accurately annotate Chinese/English data for model training, ensuring consistency and accuracy throughout the process.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: - Work experience in translation/interpretation, with the ability to translate technical and general documents between Chinese and English. - Bachelor's Degree in translation/interpretation or equivalent practical experience, with strong English communication skills. - Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. - Experience in simultaneous interpretation between Chinese and English. Preferred Qualifications: - Relevant translation experience in the technology field is preferred. 【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $96000 - $151111 annually.​
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​

We cover 100% premium coverage for employee medical insurance, approximately 75% premium coverage for dependents and offer a Health Savings Account(HSA) with a company match. In addition to Flexible Spending Account(FSA) Options like Health Care, Limited Purpose and Dependent Care. ​
Our time off and leave plans are: 10 paid holidays per year plus 17 days of Paid Personal Time Off (PPTO) (prorated upon hire and increased by tenure) and 10 paid sick days per year as well as 12 weeks of paid Parental leave and 8 weeks of paid Supplemental Disability. ​
