Job Description Summary:

What you need to know about the role -
PayPal’s Global Data Science team is looking for a Machine learning Scientist to help us develop and enhance machine learning capabilities to innovate and improve our Payment products. This person needs to have a strong background in Machine Learning, practical experience in building and implementing large scale predictive models to solve business problems, bringing insights and identifying additional opportunities from Data & Machine Learning to market, and experience working with data science teams.

Job Description:

Your way to impact -

• Collaborate with other ML scientists, product managers and engineers to formulate innovative ideas, and test / implement through advanced data science technique 
• Lead multiple projects focusing on impact as well as mentor junior members of the data science team 

Your day to day -

• Design, develop and implement data-driven strategies and machine learning models for transaction expense reduction, Improving Availability and reduce latency reduction 
• Create innovative features and data for payment strategies and models, align with stakeholders and implement these capabilities 
• Communicate analysis results and complex concepts in a clear and effective manner 

What do you need to bring-

• Professional industry experience in developing Machine learning models and performing statistical analysis  
• 9+ years with advanced degree in Math, Statistics, or Computer Science 
• Proven experience in solving open-ended business problems using data-science/ML/AI from initial ideation stage up to delivering ready-to-use solution 
• High emotional intelligence, a can-do mentality and a creative approach to problem solving. 
• High Proficiency in languages used for querying (e.g. SQL/Hive/Big Query), preprocessing and statistical analysis (e.g. Python), model building using H2O 
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to express data science concepts and solutions to product managers, data scientists, business partners of varying technical levels, and influence and negotiate to reach alignment on how to execute strategies and improve models. 
• Knowledge about financial domain and payments is a strong plus
