As a Software Research Engineer/Scientist, you will be developing software solutions and AI/ML applications to improve patterning solutions, decrease process debug time, improve design efficiency, and bridge the gap between design and manufacturing. You will work closely with other engineers. You will need to implement custom algorithms, develop efficient software solutions, ensure code quality, and debug any software related issues. This role involves deploying software solutions for foundry applications, including government foundry engagements. The candidate will need to demonstrate communication, data analysis, and proactive mindset for handling ambiguity.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field with software focus and 5+ years experience
  • Programming (C/C++ or Python) experience for 2+ years
  • 2+ years of experience with data analysis.
  • 2+ years of software tool development (EDA/CAD).
Good to have:
  • Implementing efficient data structures for software tool development
  • Implementing efficient algorithms to solve CAD/AI problems
  • Data analysis methods including statistical methods
  • Numerical algorithm design
  • Computational geometry algorithms
  • Database and system design for big data application

Job Description: 

Design and Patterning AI group under Intel's Technology Development organization is looking for a passionate, results-oriented, and innovative software engineer to develop mission-critical software solutions for our design and process teams.

As a Software Research Engineer, you will develop computational tools and AI/ML applications that improve patterning solutions, decrease process debug time, improve design efficiency, and bridge the gap between design and manufacturing. Your work will span solution exploration, technical design, implementation, deployment in a production environment, and maintenance of the deployed solutions.

You will be required to find innovative solutions to problems, collaborate with internal teams to ensure data integrity, implement custom algorithms to perform feature engineering, develop efficient software solutions that meet computing constraints, and ensure code quality to enable deployment in a production environment. You will be required to take initial solution ideas and find an implementation path towards a robust and efficient software product that can be used in the production environment. You will also be required to debug any software related fails in production environment which occasionally may require off hour urgent support.

You will work closely with a talented group of engineers who are experts in their fields and take on challenging real-world problems to advance Intel's march along the IDM 2.0 strategy. In particular, you will be involved in deploying the software solutions for foundry applications, including government foundry engagements.

Qualifications:

You must possess the minimum qualifications listed below, to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or other relevant related degrees with a software focus and 5+ years of experience; OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or other relevant related degrees with a software focus and 3+ years of experience; OR PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or other relevant related degrees with a software focus.

2+ years of experience in the following:

  • Programming (C/C++ or Python).
  • Data analysis.
  • Software tool development (EDA/CAD)


Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in:

  • implementing efficient data structures for software tool development
  • implementing efficient (runtime and memory) algorithms to solve CAD/AI problems
  • data analysis methods including statistical methods
  • numerical algorithm design
  • computational geometry algorithms
  • database and system design for big data application
  • physical design
  • design rule modeling
  • Optical Proximity Correction (OPC) and lithography simulation
  • Experience with popular React.js workflows like Redux
  • Familiarity with CSS and popular design frameworks like Bootstrap
  • Experience with data structure libraries (e.g., Immutable.js)

Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US:

$169,820.00-$239,750.00

Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience.

Work Model for this Role

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. * Job posting details (such as work model, location or time type) are subject to change.
