Staff Software Engineer - Front End

Staff Software Engineer (Front End): Join Illumina’s Multi-Omics Software team within R&D and play a lead role in the design and development of cutting-edge next generation data and analysis platforms to unlock the power of the genome – to transform healthcare and beyond. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be part of an innovative, dynamic, and adaptive organization supporting new and on-market cloud-based products that streamline the generation, analysis, aggregation, and extraction of insights from data. Responsibilities:

• Architect efficient and reusable front-end systems that drive complex web applications.

• Collaborate with Product Managers and Software Engineers to deliver compelling user-facing products.

• Translating design specs into reusable components using HTML5/CSS3, and Angular

• Develop software components that meet standards of quality and architecture, including the documentation and implementation of unit tests, scripts, and test harnesses 

• Work with UX team member to implement prototype using reusable Angular components and implement UI automation framework.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting highly scalable applications

• Experience with front end technologies and/or front-end frameworks.

• Knowledge of web libraries and frameworks such as Angular, React, Underscore

• In-depth knowledge of Java, TypeScript, or at least one other object-oriented language

• Familiarity with the whole web stack, including protocols and web server optimization techniques

• Expertise in building complex interactive graphical systems

• Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams

• Experience with numerous aspects of DevOps, including source control, CI/CD, Kubernetes and containerized deployment.

• Demonstrated willingness to teach others and learn new technologies.
