House of How Games is seeking an Art Intern to join their team in Boden, Sweden. The intern will gain valuable experience in a professional game development environment, contributing to major game IPs. Responsibilities include developing assets such as characters, environments, and UI, working under the guidance of experienced professionals. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience as a student game artist with a strong portfolio showcasing both 2D and 3D skills. Proficiency in standard software suites like Photoshop, Maya, Substance Painter, and ZBrush is essential.
Must have:
  • 2+ years student game artist experience
  • Strong portfolio showcasing 2D and 3D work
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Maya, Substance Painter, ZBrush
  • Proficiency in source control systems
  • English fluency
Good to have:
  • Swedish language proficiency
  • Portfolio showcasing work with explanations
  • Game jam or itch.io side project experience
  • Shipped indie game on Steam or mobile app stores
  • Modding, level design, or fan content creation experience
  • Programming, audio, or writing skills

From humble beginnings, we grew slowly and carefully to ensure we could control our own destiny. We are now at 75+ people and growing rapidly as our industry reputation is bringing more and more projects to the studio. Responsibilities

  • Learn new skills and how to work in a professional environment on major game IPs.
  • Help develop assets for our projects, including characters, environments, UI, etc.

Requirements

  • Cleared to work and located in Sweden.
  • 2+ years experience as a student game artist, having worked on multiple successful student game projects.
  • Strong ability and willingness to learn and adapt quickly.
  • A portfolio showcasing both 2D and 3D work as applicable.
  • Proficient in one or more major standard software suites, such as Photoshop, Maya, Substance Painter, ZBrush, etc.
  • Proficiency or willingness to learn source control systems such as Git or SVN.
  • Written and spoken English fluency.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Swedish language proficiency.
  • A portfolio of work where you are ready to discuss what you did, and why you did it.
  • Worked on game jams or itch.io side projects.
  • Shipped an indie game on Steam or mobile app stores.
  • Experience in making mods, levels, or other fan content for a game with a Steam workshop, level editor, or UGC-aspect (e.g., Minecraft, Roblox, Portal 2, Mario Maker, Dreams, LittleBigPlanet, Halo, etc.)
  • Side skills in Programming, Audio, Writing, etc. If you have any gaming-related side skills, please tell us!
