Job Description

The Compensation Manager at WildBrain leads and collaborates on annual compensation programs, including salary planning, bonus analysis, and equity administration. This role involves data analysis, market pricing, job evaluation, and compliance considerations (US FLSA and global requirements). The manager will also support the VP, Global Talent Operations on various analytical activities, including budget preparation and project work with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include documenting pay practices, process improvement, Board reporting, and collaborating with Payroll and Benefits for budget cycles. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, experience with incentive plans (sales and executive compensation preferred), and advanced Excel skills. They should be detail-oriented, able to manage multiple projects, and effectively communicate data-driven insights.

About the Role 

Are you a data-driven Compensation professional with a strong analytical background? WildBrain is seeking a Compensation Manager to manage the execution of key compensation programs while acting as a trusted business partner. This hands-on, process-driven role involves leading annual compensation cycles, including salary planning, bonus analysis, and equity administration, as well as providing ad-hoc insights to drive business decisions.

In this individual contributor role, you will report directly to the VP, Global Talent Operations. You’ll own the compensation process, handle data analytics, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution. While there are no direct reports, you will be a key partner in executing compensation strategies and supporting business needs. Job Description

  • Lead, and/or collaborate with the VP, Global Talent Operations on the planning and administration of a variety of annual programs including annual salary planning, annual bonus plan analysis and execution, market pricing and salary structure review, long-term equity program administration, or other compensation related programs
  • Support VP, Global Talent Operations on other analytic activities, including annual headcount budget preparation
  • Lead, and/or collaborate with the broader Talent team on a variety of projects, including compensation program redesign, ad-hoc analysis, policy reviews, cross-functional project teams, and implementation of new programs
  • Conduct job analysis and evaluation, with an awareness of compliance implications in the US (i.e. FLSA) and considering global requirements as well
  • Document internal pay practices to publish management guidelines for compensation actions; Proactively identify opportunities to redefine and streamline processes, working with key stakeholders
  • Coordinates and supplies supporting documentation for Board reporting, internal and external audit compliance
  • Providing details of upcoming vest to payroll team prior to vesting; work with Payroll to confirm taxes are calculated correctly on equity settlements
  • Partners with Payroll and Benefits team members on analytics required for annual budget cycle, including the development of fringe rates

Qualifications

  • A broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures related to analytics, incentives and compensation theory 

  • Ability to blend compensation philosophy, best in class compensation methods/programs, and business realities 

  • Strong job evaluation and market analysis skills; global experience is an asset 

  • Strong financial analysis experience related to incentive plans; experience in Sales compensation and Executive compensation an asset 

  • Able to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, high-visibility projects and initiatives 

  • Advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel (must be proficient with pivot tables, V-look-ups, and other functions and formulas for data analysis and reporting) 

  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work quickly under pressure 

  • Highly pragmatic, balancing best-in-class approach with practicalities of the business 

  • Self-driven and strategic in thought processes to draft recommendations and conclusions after analyzing data (be able to tell a story with data) 

  • Demonstrated experience building relationships and working with multiple clients on large, complex projects, including independently identifying client needs and expectations
