Job Description
The Finance Optimization Senior Analyst at Google leads discovery and design efforts to enhance financial data systems and processes. Leveraging finance and accounting expertise, this role translates user feedback into engineering requirements, executes change management, and collaborates with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include evaluating financial data systems within Google Cloud, identifying opportunities for improvement and automation, and building comprehension of these systems to recommend enhancements and troubleshoot issues. The ideal candidate possesses strong SQL skills, experience with financial data systems architecture, and a proven ability to influence executive leaders. The role requires navigating ambiguity, solving complex issues, and managing multiple priorities effectively.
Must have:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field
- 7+ years FP&A, Accounting, or Finance experience
- 3+ years SQL experience
- Financial data systems expertise
- Cross-functional collaboration skills
- Executive communication skills
Good to have:
- CPA/CA
- SOX compliance experience
- Statistical methods & dashboard design skills
- ERP system understanding (Oracle, SAP, S4 Hana)
- GAAP accounting knowledge

Job Details
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of experience in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Accounting, or Finance transformation.
- 3 years of experience writing SQL scripts and navigating datasets and pipelines.
- Experience with financial data systems architecture and controls, including working with financial statements and journal entries.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, and influencing executive leaders.
Preferred qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)/Chartered Accountant (CA).
- Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and audits.
- Experience in applying statistical methods, SQL, dashboard design with excellent data analysis skills.
- Understanding of ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, S4 Hana) standard Source-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, Financials and Payroll business processes.
- Understanding of GAAP accounting principles, including business recognition.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, solve complex issues, and work with engaging priorities and stakeholder management.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Lead discovery and design efforts to further enhance Financial data systems or processes. Leverage Finance and Accounting experience to translate systems feedback from end users into requirements for Engineering.
- Execute change management, including moderating operating committee forums to keep executives and cross-functional systems decision-makers informed of roadmaps and project status, development and testing outcomes, and production support issues. Partner with stakeholders to get things done, from Finance and Accounting to Business Operations and Engineering.
- Evaluate financial data systems as a part of ecosystem within Google Cloud, producing documentation and process flows, identifying opportunities for new features, process automation, and risk-mitigating controls. Build comprehension of Financial data systems as evidenced by the ability to recommend improvements and troubleshoot production issues.
