Microsoft AI is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a full-stack team in designing and developing platform services and Windows client applications for Copilot experiences. Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams, guiding the team towards product outcomes, shipping high-quality code, and working in a fast-paced environment. The role requires experience building scalable services on public cloud infrastructure and expertise in various programming languages (Python, C#, C++, .NET, XAML, RUST, Java). The team is responsible for creating experiences demonstrating Copilot's power on Windows, large screens, and productivity scenarios.

Microsoft AI (MAI) is seeking an Engineering Manager to help build the next wave of capabilities for Copilot on Windows. We’re looking for someone who possesses technical prowess, a methodical approach to problem-solving and proficiency in client and service technologies. The right candidate enjoys building world-class consumer experiences and products in a fast-paced environment. The Windows Copilot team is responsible for creating experiences that demonstrate the power Copilot can bring to Windows, large screens and productivity scenarios. In this role you will play a critical role leading work designing, developing, and implementing cutting-edge solutions while collaborating with Platform, Product Management, Design and Research teams. 

Our newly formed organization, MAI, is dedicated to advancing Copilot and other consumer AI products and research. The team is responsible for Copilot, Bing, Edge, and generative AI research. Come be a part of the team shaping the future personal computing.

By applying to this U.S. Redmond, WA position, you are required to be local to the Seattle area and in office 3 days a week 

Responsibilities
  • Lead a full stack team to design and develop Platform services and Windows client applications to support Copilot experiences on Windows. 
  • Work collaboratively with platform, infrastructure, application engineers and researchers to build next generation AI products and services. 
  • Guide your team while assuming accountability to product outcomes. Find creative solutions to obstacles and actively partner across the broader organization to ensure product success. 
  • Ship high-quality, well-tested, secure, and maintainable code. 
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, design-driven, product development cycle.

Required Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related technical discipline AND 6 years technical engineering experience building applications including, but not limited to, Python, C#, C , .NET, XAML, RUST, Java 
  • OR equivalent experience. 
  • 6 years experience managing teams in highly dynamic and fast moving environments 
  • Experience building scalable services on top of public cloud infrastructure like Azure, AWS, or GCP. Extensive use datastores like RDBMS, key-value stores, etc. 
  • Experience building secure, performant and well architected applications that demonstrate a focus on data driven iteration and improvement. 

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Experience working with AI platforms, frameworks, and APIs. 
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and user experience. 
  • Dedication to writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code with a focus on application quality, performance, and security. 
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers. 
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing requirements and deadlines. 
  • Proven ability to collaborate and contribute to a positive, inclusive work environment, fostering knowledge sharing and growth within the team.

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
