Job Details

Sharkmob is looking for a Senior Game Designer focused on NPC/AI to join us at our studio in Malmö, Sweden. In this role, you’ll own the design of NPCs, from behaviour-tree logic to moment-to-moment combat feel, working closely with coders, artists, fellow designers, as well as production and direction. Together, you’ll deliver nail-biting, fair, and rewarding gameplay experiences that align with the game’s creative vision and development goals.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about AI design, excited by the challenges of the extraction shooter genre, and eager to push the gameplay experience forward through thoughtful, systems-driven design.

Responsibilities

  • Driving the development of the games NPC/AI related features such as behaviour, feedback, dialogue systems, difficulty and animation.
  • Making sure the NPC/AI is fun, fair, believable and rewarding.
  • Ensuring that the NPC/AI systems work well together with other game loops.
  • Mentor and support junior/intermediate game designers, offering feedback, guidance, and knowledge sharing.
  • Work together with the team to iterate on features, take initiative for improvements and feedback on all aspects of the game.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in game design, with a strong focus on AI or combat systems, and a proven track record of working on larger development teams.
  • Experience with Shooters.
  • Outstanding communication skills; you can pitch a concept, justify a decision, and give, as well as receive, feedback with ease.
  • Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align the team around shared goals.

Bonus points

  • Experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Live-service experience: balancing, telemetry analysis, post-launch iteration.
  • Experience working with project/product management.

Sharkmob was founded in 2017 and is headquartered in Malmö, Sweden. We are currently working on Exoborne – a Sharkmob original game. We have previously released Bloodhunt – a battle royale shooter set in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe. We develop games for PC and console, using Unreal 5 to power our vision and ambition.

About The Company

Sharkmob is a game development company with studios located in Malmö, (Sweden) and London (UK).


Currently, we are working on two major projects: Exoborne – a Sharkmob original game created in Malmö, is a tactical, open-world extraction shooter set in a United States torn apart by apocalyptic forces of nature. The second project, developed in London, is another Sharkmob original IP yet to be announced. Our first game Bloodhunt - a battle royale set in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe, was released on 27 April 2022.

We believe that if we have fun making games, people will have fun playing them. Fun is also about daring to do mighty things that allow us to reach levels of achievement we otherwise can't. Doing more with less and making an extra effort to find the optimal way forward is always valued. We rely on smart decisions to take us further than otherwise possible.
