Job Description

The Software Engineer 2 - AI Tooling role involves designing and developing large-scale software tools and solutions using the latest Microsoft AI technologies and Azure services. Responsibilities include adhering to modern software engineering practices, understanding AI tooling requirements, developing highly scalable and reliable services, and improving tool performance and test coverage. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in enterprise software development, AI project experience, and strong collaboration skills. They will work on improving and building new AI tooling for developers. This is a fast-paced role within a growing area of Microsoft.

Must have:

3+ years enterprise software development experience
3+ years experience building applications or tooling
Experience with AI tooling
Strong collaboration skills
Proficiency in full-stack development

Good to have:

Overview

Developer Division is an organization focusing on developer tooling and experiences, and application workload experiences. We're looking for a Software Engineer 2 to join us to develop and deliver the great, consistent and scalable AI tooling products. You will have opportunities to work on AI tooling by leveraging latest Microsoft AI technologies, collaborate with Azure services, meet developers at where they are.

We're passionate about every detail of the end user experience. This includes simplicity of function, automation, performance, reliability and security. The right candidate for this role will be motivated to build great software that meets these challenges, also be part of fast-growing AI application and tooling area.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

3+ years of industry experience developing enterprise grade software.
3+ years of experience building applications or tooling.
BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field.

Preferred Qualifications

AI related project experience and knowledge.
Ability to communicate technical details clearly across organizational boundaries.
Experience in DevOps to maintain live services and\or application frameworks.
Cloud and services experience, with Azure cloud experience highly desirable.
Excellent analytical skills with systematic and structured approach to software design.
Passion for building highly scalable, highly reliable services.
Experience with or exposure to Agile and iterative development processes.
Experience/background in the enterprise space.
Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services is helpful

Responsibilities

Design and develop large scale software tools and solutions.
Adhere to and drive modern software engineering practices through design and code reviews.
Understand AI tooling requirements and design AI tooling solutions for AI developers.
Develop "best-in-class" engineering system by ensuring that components are well-defined and modularized, secure, reliable, diagnosable, actively monitored and reusable.

Improve performance and test coverage for tools, organize and implement integration tests, and resolve problem areas.
Consider testability, portability/monitoring, reliability, and maintainability, and understand when code is ready to be shared and delivered.
Gain a working understanding of Microsoft as a business and collaborate with mentors and leaders in order to contribute to cohesive, end-to-end experiences for our users.
Focus on customer/partner needs through a data driven approach.
