Job Description

Join ByteDance's Cloud Search team as a Software Engineer specializing in Elasticsearch/OpenSearch. You'll design, develop, and optimize a search platform serving various product lines, troubleshooting production issues, and enhancing the Elasticsearch/OpenSearch ecosystem. About Team The Cloud Search team is dedicated to providing a fully managed search service built on open-source technologies such as Elasticsearch and OpenSearch. The team delivers a reliable, easy-to-use and high-performance search engine for ByteDance's various production workloads. We are looking for engineers who are passionate about search, analytics and distributed systems to join the team. We also encourage ownership and self-driven enthusiasm to work on various projects. What you will be doing: 1. Responsible for the design and development of the search platform to fulfil the requirements of all product lines at ByteDance; 2. Extend the capabilities of Elasticsearch/OpenSearch/Lucene to deliver a reliable and versatile search engine; 3. Troubleshoot problems that occur in the production environment; 4. Enhance the Elasticsearch/OpenSearch ecosystem such as building versatile data ingestion channels to provide an easy-to-use search service; 5. Optimize the search service with high throughput and low latency to meet various business goals; 6. Ensure the reliability and availability of the Elasticsearch/OpenSearch clusters with traffic governance and multi-datacenter disaster recovery capability; 7. Explore and find out the best engineering practices for various business scenarios.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: - Strong programming fundamentals with excellent design and coding style, particularly in operating systems, data structures and networking; - Familiar with Java, JVM, Lucene, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, analytics and distributed systems. 【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $145000 - $355000 annually.​
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​
