You will apply broad knowledge in software application layer solutions and the software development lifecycle to experiment, solve problems, and own solutions that transform epics into new product features and capabilities. This role is for a Senior Software Engineer in the Self Service (Mobile Apps) chapter, responsible for ongoing feature development and support of native mobile applications for Telstra’s consumer and small business customers, with a primary focus on the My Telstra app. You will design, build, and maintain complex software application technologies, develop innovative software that maintains data/network security, and collaborate with team members to gather deep insights.
Must have:

Focus of the Role 
This is a Senior Software Engineer role in the Self Service (Mobile Apps) chapter, which is a part of Telstra N&IT. This role will be responsible for ongoing feature development and support of native mobile applications for Telstra’s consumer and small business customers, with a primary focus on the My Telstra app.

What You’ll Do 

Product & Technology - Software Engineering & IT develops and maintains Telstra's software and IT systems, working on some really cutting-edge technologies. 

 
• Design, build and maintain multiple complex software application technologies and their interaction with Telstra processes and systems 
• Develop innovative software that maintains data/network security management, and leverage set processes to reduce the time between commission and production 
• Authentically engage with and influence a multi-stakeholder landscape to translate customer needs into leading-edge software application products, services or systems that meet Telstra’s time, cost and quality standards 
• Collaborate with team members and key stakeholders, seeking support, direction and buy-in to gather deep insights about the challenges and opportunities of our software application technologies and platforms 
• Significantly contribute to continuous improvement initiatives of our systems and processes, to help define ‘best practice’ corporate testing standards and drive improved outcome 
• Take ownership of your own actions and decisions to drive positive outcomes within your team/mission, and provide guidance to more junior engineers in order to support their development and contribution to team/mission outcomes 
 

 

About You 

4- 6 years developing mobile applications on the relevant platform (iOS) as part of a delivery-focused software engineering team. The ideal candidate will have had some or all of the following experience: 
• Mobile application design, development, and testing using native (iOS) technologies 
Strong proficiency in Swift and Swift UI, experience with iOS APIs (Apple APIs), and debugging skills.
 
• Extensive experience with Xcode developer tools 
• Advanced level Swift programming experience 
• General optimization and debugging skills 
Component Management 
• UX Design 
• Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery Pipelines 
Experience with Apple testing frameworks like XCTests and XCUITests. 
• Automated Testing frameworks, Test-Driven Development (TDD), Business Driven Development (BDD). 
• Experience working in both in-source and our-sourced delivery models 
• Experience working with Agile delivery models, with a preference to Lean 
• Experience managing support activities in high availability, high transaction production systems 
• Strong experience in software development environments for high availability platforms 
• Strong experience developing and integrating with web services in a Linux and/or Solaris environment 
• You will have current knowledge of software engineering standards, tools, and best practices in particular for a native iOS mobile application
