This Role
Salesforce delivers world-class events, both in-person and virtually. As Engineering Director in Event Technology, you will run teams that are building event platform systems aligned to our Future State Architecture. You will lead software engineers through project planning, execution, and deployments, and provide continuous guidance through their career progressions. This people and technology leadership role is responsible for effective collaboration across the Event Technology global team, business stakeholders, product management, and other technology teams contributing to project success. This engineering leader will guide the teams and coordinate with others in the agile development process.
This role requires that you be a self-starter with the ability to take ownership, work under pressure, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. You must possess very strong oral and written documentation skills and be able to drive and inspire your team to deliver efficient and reliable code. You will also be asked to contribute ideas, provide feedback, and collaborate on many projects within the team portfolio that may be outside your domain expertise. We are looking for a passionate manager with experience leading development projects and activities and has a strong engineering background with time spent hands-on coding preferred.
Required Skills/Experience
Passionate about technology and people management
13+ years of professional experience with 5+ years in people management and leading software engineering teams
Experience in web application development
Good understanding of technology and architecture in a highly scalable and available setup
Experience in driving quality through automation and ability to drive technical excellence, pushing innovation and operational excellence.
Experience running scrum processes, and have worked on a product that was released for public consumption
Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices including coding standards, code reviews, build processes, testing, and operations
Experience with short release cycles, the full software lifecycle, and experience working on products that have been released for broad public consumption
Strong verbal and written interpersonal skills, impeccable organizational and time management skills
Ability to take ownership of project delivery and multi-task on multiple projects/feature development
Experienced in mentoring, managing engineers, recruiting, and retaining top talent
Desired Skills/Experience
Experience with AWS services (such as AppSync, Lambda, SNS, SQS, etc) is a plus
Experience of working in front-end technologies such as Javascript, and CSS with a good understanding of web and accessibility standards
Experience with technologies like content management and personalization.
Familiarity with Salesforce products and services is a plus.
