  • Experience using Docker to build containerized applications
  • Hands-on experience in Java
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles
  • Experience with Observability and monitoring tools

Position Overview

Autodesk is seeking a highly motivated, hands-on experienced Engineering Manager to join the Developer Tooling team and lead a newly formed team in India, bringing fresh energy to Autodesk’s developer tooling ecosystem. You will help shape a high-performing team culture from the ground up, focused on building, maintaining, and supporting Autodesk's current and next generation of tools for developers.

We are looking for a strong leader, communicator with a balance of technical knowledge and business acumen. As an ideal candidate, you have led teams developing scalable cloud platform tools in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Responsibilities

This team will build internal developer tools to streamline API publishing and automate documentation delivery. These tools enhance engineering productivity and improve consistency across Autodesk. The initial team will include three engineers based in India. As the Engineering Manager, you are expected to lead by example, spending approximately 30% of your time coding while providing strategic and hands-on technical leadership.

  • Provide technical leadership by consulting on methods, tools, techniques, standards, and procedures, with a focus on TypeScript, Python, and Java

  • Lead a small team of engineers, providing mentorship, career growth, and performance management

  • Decompose large technical problems into manageable components, provide clear technical solutions, and lead implementation to ensure high-quality software delivery

  • Work cross-functionally and cross-organizationally to gather requirements, define key development activities, and ensure delivery aligns with both technical and business goals

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 2+ years managing engineering teams, with a focus on mentorship and performance development
  • 8+ years of experience in the industry involving designing and developing cloud/server applications
  • Strong hands-on experience in TypeScript and Python, with exposure to web technologies, AWS, and cloud databases
  • Experience building automation and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience designing and developing REST APIs, including use of tools such as Swagger or OpenAPI

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Docker to build containerized applications

  • Hands-on experience in Java

  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns

  • Experience with Observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace and Splunk
