Job Description: Support Engineer (Oracle PL/SQL & Java)

About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Support Engineer with expertise in Oracle PL/SQL and Java. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to communicate effectively in both French and English.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Support:
a. Provide first- and second-level support for applications using Oracle PL/SQL and Java.
b. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues efficiently to minimize downtime.
c. Analyze system logs, identify root causes, and propose long-term solutions.
2. Development and Maintenance:
a. Develop and maintain PL/SQL scripts, stored procedures, and Java-based applications to meet client requirements.
b. Perform bug fixes, code reviews, and ensure the quality of deliverables.
3. Client Communication:
a. Liaise with international clients in French and English, ensuring clear and professional communication.
b. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and clarify requirements, provide updates, and manage expectations.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
a. Maintain detailed documentation for configurations, changes, and issue resolutions.
b. Prepare reports on support activities and system performance as required.
5. Collaboration:
a. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, testers, and project managers, to deliver seamless support.
b. Participate in regular team meetings to share insights and improve processes.
Required Skills and Experience:
1. Technical Expertise:
a. 3-5 years of experience working with Oracle PL/SQL development, including stored procedures, triggers, and performance tuning.
b. Proficiency in Java development, including experience with Java frameworks and tools.
2. Domain Knowledge:
a. Experience in the insurance domain is required, with a good understanding of insurance workflows and processes.
3. Language Skills:
a. Fluency in both French and English is mandatory (spoken and written).
4. Problem-Solving:
a. Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
b. Experience with debugging, log analysis, and system monitoring tools.
5. Tools and Technologies:
a. Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
b. Experience with ticketing systems like JIRA, ServiceNow, or similar.
c. Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix commands is a plus.
6. Soft Skills:
a. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
b. Ability to work independently in a remote setup while being a strong team player.
c. Time management and multitasking capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience in an international support environment.
• Knowledge of additional technologies, such as REST APIs or web development frameworks, is advantageous.
• Certification in Oracle or Java-related domains is a plus.
