Intangible is seeking a UI Engineer who excels at the intersection of design and engineering. This role involves implementing, maintaining, and evolving the company's internal design system. The UI Engineer will act as a liaison between designers and engineers, ensuring technical execution aligns with design intent. Key responsibilities include building accessible, high-quality, and performant UI components using React/Next.js, maintaining a consistent visual language, translating Figma designs into polished interfaces, and collaborating with engineers for optimal developer experience. The position also involves contributing to component documentation and focusing on visual polish such as micro-interactions and responsiveness.

Intangible is a spatial intelligence AI company for creatives in film, advertising, events, marketing and interactive media. We make constructing 3D experiences dramatically faster, cheaper and more collaborative for creative, distributed teams.

We are a design-obsessed, engineering-heavy team shipping a groundbreaking product — and we’re looking for someone who shares our attention to detail and love of craft.

About the Role

We’re hiring a UI Engineer who lives at the intersection of design and engineering. You’ll be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and evolving our internal design system. Working closely with both designers and engineers, you'll be the connective tissue between design intent and technical execution and own a vital part of our app: ensuring that what we ship is performant, beautiful, and consistent.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and evolve our design system (built with Tailwind, Radix UI, and shadcn/ui)

  • Build accessible, high-quality, and performant UI components in React/Next.js

  • Implement and maintain a consistent visual language across our apps

  • Work closely with designers to translate Figma designs into polished interfaces

  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure smooth developer ergonomics and maintainability

  • Contribute to component documentation via Storybook or equivalent tools

  • Push visual polish: micro-interactions, motion, layout finesse, and responsiveness

  • Maintain a high bar for UI detail, consistency, and design fidelity

Key Competencies:

  • You care deeply about design craft, but you write code for a living

  • You think in components, systems, and UX patterns

  • You enjoy building developer-friendly design systems

  • You obsess over layout precision, motion, and polish

  • You love collaborating with designers to bring ideas to life

  • You’re pragmatic, fast, and comfortable shipping in small iterations

  • You are familiar with our tech stack:

    • Monorepo powered by Turborepo

    • Next.js App Router

    • TailwindCSS, Radix UI, shadcn/ui

    • Typescript, React, Framer Motion

    • Vercel, Supabase, Three.js

Bonus Qualities:

  • Experience with Storybook or other component documentation tools

  • Interest or experience in 3D, R3F, or creative tooling

  • Familiarity with accessibility (a11y) and WCAG guidelines

  • Experience building design systems from scratch or at scale
