The Controller will be responsible for the accurate and timely financial management and operations of the company, primarily overseeing the accounting function. This includes payroll, tax, insurance, and internal control functions. They will monitor financial reporting, ensure accurate documentation of financial statements, and provide financial strategic insights. The Controller will lead an accounting team to support industry changes. They will manage the accounting function, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, oversee reporting, and collaborate with internal stakeholders. Additionally, they will identify process improvements and analyze financial data. The role requires delivering strategic financial insights and recommendations.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • CPA designation
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • Experience with internal controls, tax, SOX compliance and ERP implementations
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial controls
Good to have:
  • Previous role as Controller in a high-growth company

POSITION SUMMARY

Bandai Namco Entertainment America’s Controller will be responsible for the accurate and timely financial management and operations of the company, primarily overseeing the accounting function.  including but not limited to payroll, tax, insurance and internal control functions in collaboration with other teams in the Finance department for the service of supporting executive and board level decision-making and strategic planning.

They will have a focus on monitoring the financial reporting of the organization and ensure there is accurate documentation of the company’s financial statements and will also be responsible for delivering financial strategic insights.  

The Controller will build, augment, and lead a world-class accounting team to support rapid changes and transformation in the industry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Responsible for managing the accounting function, which includes matters such as ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with US GAAP requirements, review of cash flow, and supporting key initiatives in procurement and financial and operational planning 
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, which includes leading the review of internal Japan SOX control guidelines and implement company adoption of new accounting standards. 
  • Responsible for pertinent reporting matters such as the monthly/quarterly royalty reporting (Inbound & Outbound) to Licensees/Licensors (which includes intercompany transactions), and providing management reports and analysis to internal and external stakeholders 
  • Manage accounting support tools, including ERP system conversion, and other reporting tools that may be used within the department  
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as business leaders, to ensure that reporting aligns to their needs and goals to support executive decisions on financial objectives and policies 
  • Partner with other internal Finance teams on financial reporting 
  • Monitor and coordinate internal and external audit and tax functions with outside audit and tax firms 
  • Accountable for delivering strategic financial insights and recommendations 
  • Identify and implement process improvements to existing accounting processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in accounting to drive operational excellence across the department 
  • Responsible for the analysis of financial data to identify trends, opportunities and potential risks, which includes producing in-depth data to support strategic goals and leadership insights 
  • Oversee the effectiveness, growth, and development of direct reports  
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, accounting, finance or related field 
  • CPA designation 
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience   
  • 5+ years of people management experience 
  • Experience with internal controls, multi-jurisdictional tax, SOX compliance and ERP implementations 
  • Strong fundamental grounding in accounting principles and financial controls and reporting, knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) 
  • Expert knowledge of general ledger accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, financial statements, and variance analysis 
  • Deep operating understanding of ERP financial planning systems

SALARY RANGE

$163,000 - $182,000

Actual base salary will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, but not limited to, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs. The salary range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees and it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
