This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team in the Music Affairs department at Sony Pictures Entertainment as a Coordinator, Music Licensing. As part of the Music Licensing team within Music Affairs, the Coordinator, Music Licensing works collaboratively with the Music Licensing team supporting the studio’s music and audio needs across their various television productions, trailers, and marketing. This role also will provide day to day support and report directly into the SVP, Music Licensing.

This position will work closely with licensing music executives tracking license status, entering deals into a shared database system, preparing for post mortem meetings, monitoring and facilitating payments, as well as other tasks as needed to ensure all deals are properly completed, logged and paid.

The Coordinator, Music Licensing must be detail oriented and organized, with the ability to stay on top of a high volume of active licenses across multiple projects, and other tasks as laid out above.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the SVP, Music Licensing will require general administrative duties such as, but not limited to, maintaining schedule, setting meetings, answering phones, etc., and assisting in day to day needs.

  • Attending Music Affairs departmental meetings and television team meetings, taking notes and distributing them to team members, updating team on involvement in and status of various projects, and collaborating on the successful release of all visual media in the corresponding production.

  • Working directly with licensing executives, create, upload and manage music licenses for both television productions and trailers within our internal databases and digital information repository.

  • Working with team Accounting Analyst, prepare for Post Mortem meetings to ensure all licenses and payments are complete for each individual season of each television production AND each marketing project.

  • Prepare and route payment requests to marketing finance for film marketing licenses and work for hire agreements, tracking payments, sending payment confirmations, and ensuring all relevant payment information is entered in our systems.

Requirements

  • BA/BS/MA in film, tv, music, business, communications, etc.

  • Ideally of 1-3 years’ experience in Music Licensing at a production company, television studio, trailer house, record label, music publisher, production music library, etc.

  • Knowledge of music licensing, song research, synchronization, and recording use rights.

  • Passion for film & television music, sound design, visual media, music supervision.

  • Works well under pressure and tight deadlines, ability to accurately manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to process and navigate fast moving high amounts of data and paperwork.

  • Proactive team player and motived solution-oriented self-starter.

  • Organizational skills and thorough due diligence.

  • Ability to professionally communicate in all manners internally and with clients, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to track all licenses through the entire licensing process from start to finish from initial request, to contract to payment.

  • Savvy with technology, database management and asset requests/delivery

The anticipated base salary for this position is $50,000-$62,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
