The Hulu Strategic Portfolio Operations Manager aligns decision-making with Hulu's business strategy and facilitates operations between content and non-DTC teams. Job Summary:

Hulu is an integral part of Disney’s Direct to Consumer (DTC) organization, leading premium streaming service offerings for live and on-demand TV and movies. Operating at the intersection of entertainment and technology and housed within the Disney Entertainment segment, Hulu is helping to bring The Walt Disney Company’s best-in-class storytelling to fans and families everywhere.

The Hulu Strategic Planning and Operations team is a highly dynamic team focused on tracking, driving strategic decisions for the Hulu business, and ensuring smooth operations through coordination with business partners. Working closely with the Hulu General Manager and content teams, the team aggregates perspectives on high-priority strategic considerations, executes analyses to inform goal setting, and collaborates with partner teams to optimize workflows for Hulu-specific needs, driving overall DTC growth.

As the Strategic Portfolio Operations Manager, you will align decision-making to Hulu’s business strategy and facilitate operations between content and non-DTC teams. This role focuses on building cross-functional feedback loops, bridging siloes, and ensuring information flow to and from BU stakeholders. You will also develop and refine operational frameworks tailored to Hulu’s needs within the Disney (Streaming) ecosystem.

This role requires strategic thinking, cross-functional collaboration, accountability, and operational oversight. You will work with the Director, Strategic Operations to translate priorities into actionable plans as well as key content, legal, and product counterparts. The ideal candidate has a background in management consulting or experience in strategy or business planning within the media & entertainment and/or direct-to-consumer industry, enjoys problem-solving, and is intellectually curious.

Responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Insights

    • Synthesize complex data into actionable insights through deep dive analyses to determine growth strategies. Collaborate across DTC and partner BUs to build consensus and drive execution.

    • Leverage insights to recommend strategic shifts in content strategy or operational focus

    • Collaborate with teams across the company to identify and pursue white space opportunities, advancing business goals and financial targets.

    • Work closely with Hulu and DTC teams to facilitate decision-making for cross-functional strategic initiatives within the Hulu portfolio, helping to establish and track key results.

  • Content Partner Operations

    • Ensure availability, extensions, and controls are in place, working closely with compliance, partnership, legal, and operational teams to align with overall compliance strategies and contract enforcement.

    • Utilize and execute on content deal snapshots, track deals, and liaise across internal partners, ensuring contract terms are operationalized effectively and tracked accurately. Elevate communications to executive levels as needed.

    • Provide support in managing rights, ensuring all content rights are properly handled and documented.

  • Portfolio Operations

    • Lead the archival, documentation, and consolidation of all processes and operational decision making with respect to the Hulu portfolio.

    • Serve as non-tech quality control and Hulu POC for guidelines resulting from the above tasks, including branding and other rights-dependent features, metadata, and system nomenclature.

    • Develop and standardize processes and frameworks to streamline internal reporting on rights, avails, entitlements, etc., in close collaboration with partners.

    • Benchmark operational best practices against industry standards

  • Stakeholder and Cross-functional Operations

    • Establish efficient cross-functional workflows, speeding up decision-making by aiding communication and alignment of priorities.

    • Lead change management initiatives and optimize operational frameworks, addressing Hulu-specific needs within the DTC organization, in alignment with the Director, Strategic Operations’s priorities.

    • Identify and pursue opportunities for innovation, continuously building relationships across the broader organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience, including 3+ years of pre/post-graduate work at a management consulting firm, investment bank, or related strategy/entertainment team.

  • Strong understanding of the direct-to-consumer business model, digital media, and subscription-based services.

  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated business acumen with proven success in delivering results within a cross-functional team setting.

  • Proficiency in exploratory data analysis, advanced reporting, data modeling (e.g., Excel), and visualizations to drive decision-making and provide actionable recommendations.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with a track record of delivering on complex, cross-functional initiatives.

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • High emotional intelligence (EQ), leadership, and interpersonal skills.

  • Creative and nimble thinker with the ability to think outside the box and solve problems.

  • Strong work ethic and a highly detail-oriented mindset.

  • Undergraduate BA/BS degree required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree (e.g., MBA, JD/MBA or equivalent advanced degree in business, finance, or a related field) preferred.

  • Experience working in technology or media & entertainment, particularly in subscription-based businesses or direct-to-consumer products.

  • Prior experience working with or supporting licensing agreements, content acquisition, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with Hulu's content, technology, and operational landscape.

The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $113,800.00-$152,500.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
