Morningstar Indexes is seeking a talented and motivated Data Operations Analyst to join our team. The Data Operations team is responsible for sourcing, validating, and maintaining Morningstar security-level reference data, corporate actions, float and total shares outstanding, pricing, and other data for the index portfolios. The team also handles complex corporate events, ensures data integrity across databases, complies with regulations, and automates production processes. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in market data, shares, and corporate actions to ensure the accuracy and quality of data used in index development and maintenance. You will also play a key role in identifying and resolving data issues, proposing enhancements to improve system functionality and process efficiency, and managing data according to client-specific requirements.

Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in economics/finance/business
  • Excellent command over Excel and other collaboration tools

Title: Senior Data Analyst

Indexes Data Operations

The Group: Morningstar Indexes Team leverages its expertise in equity research, manager research, asset allocation, and portfolio construction to create innovative investment solutions. It uses Morningstar`s intellectual property to create indexes that empower investors’ success at every stage of the investment process - market monitoring, benchmarking, and asset allocation. The unit offers a broad suite of global equity, bond, commodity and asset allocation indexes.

The Role: Morningstar Indexes seeks an intelligent and creative professional for its Data Operations team. The primary function of the team is to source, validate and maintain Morningstar security level reference, corporate actions, float and total shares outstanding, pricing and other data for the index portfolios. The team is also responsible for handling complex corporate events, integrity of data across different databases that powers new products and maintenance platforms, regulatory compliance, and production automation. We are looking for a person who is passionate about investing and with good knowledge about sourcing, maintaining and validating cross asset class data.  This position will be in Vashi, Navi Mumbai (India).

Responsibilities:

  • Have a very good understanding of market data, shares and corporate actions.
  • Have knowledge about the various stock exchanges, boards, holiday calendars etc.
  • To source and ensure quality of input data used in index development and maintenance.
  • Know the treatment of different corporate actions on entity, price and shares data
  • UAT of system improvements, data validations
  • Create and maintain data dictionaries and dashboards
  • Own and drive continuous improvement within the process through quality initiatives
  • Manage data as per client-specific requirements, while at the same time adhering to Morningstar's set KPIs and KRAs
  • Discover and raise issues in work (including system, process, and collection methodology) and propose enhancement suggestion to further improve system functionality, process efficiency and data quality

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics/ finance/business, Master’s degree would be an added advantage
  • Fresher or 1-2 years’ experience in the financial domain related to equity data particularly corporate actions and shares/price data
  • Excellent command over Excel and other collaboration tools
  • Basic knowledge of SQL will be an added advantage
