Java Developer (Spring & RESTful Web Services Expert)

Software Requirements

• Required Software Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in Java (version 8 or higher)
  • In-depth knowledge of Java EE platform and core APIs
  • Experience with web development frameworks including Spring (Core, Boot), Hibernate, or JSF
  • Proficiency in SQL and working with relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
  • Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git
  • Understanding of RESTful web services design and implementation

• Preferred Software Skills:

  • Experience with build tools such as Maven or Gradle
  • Knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for full-stack understanding
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and related tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)

Overall Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain scalable Java applications aligned with project requirements
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code that adheres to industry and organizational standards
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including designers, analysts, and other developers to deliver new features and enhance existing functionalities
• Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring code quality
• Identify and resolve bugs and performance issues in a timely manner
• Stay informed on emerging Java and related technology trends, integrating best practices into development processes
• Contribute to documenting technical solutions and maintaining system documentation
• Support integration and deployment activities within Agile development cycles

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 4+ years of professional experience in Java software development
• Proven experience in developing web applications using Java frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, or JSF
• Demonstrated experience working with relational databases and SQL
• Practical experience in Agile team environments and familiarity with Scrum or Kanban
• Experience with RESTful API development and integration
• Prior engagement with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience working on complex systems with performance and scalability considerations

Note: Equivalent experience in related software development roles or relevant industry sectors will be considered.

Day-to-Day Activities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java applications and microservices
• Collaborate daily with project teams during stand-ups, planning, and review meetings
• Write automated tests to ensure code quality and reliability
• Conduct and participate in code reviews, advocating for best practices
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across development, testing, and production environments
• Document technical specifications and system configurations
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the development process
• Mentor and support junior team members as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
• At least 3 years of professional experience in Java application development
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Java certifications, Scrum certifications) are a plus
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development through courses, workshops, or self-learning
