Job Description

As a Lead PCG/Tools Engineer, you will lead the Orion Team in developing procedural tools for Cyberpunk 2, including generating cities, environments, interiors, and characters. Your responsibilities include managing the team, collaborating with designers and artists, building and enhancing PCG tools, ensuring pipeline efficiency, researching emerging trends, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and writing high-quality code. This role requires at least 7 years of programming experience in the games industry.
Must have:
  • 7+ years of programming experience in the games industry.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and Unreal Engine knowledge.
  • Experience with current-gen console hardware.
  • Understanding of geometric algorithms and data structures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Tool Development experience.
Good to have:
  • Professional experience with Houdini.
  • Experience in performance/memory optimization.
  • Experience developing with XBox and PlayStation.

Job Description

CD PROJEKT RED is looking for a Lead PCG/Tools Engineer to join our office in Boston to work on Cyberpunk 2, the follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077. In this role, you will lead the Orion Team responsible for developing procedural tools to enable designers and artists to deliver on the vision of the game.

In this job you will lead and manage the Orion team that develop procedural tools, including generations of cities, environment, interiors, characters to help design and artists deliver vision of the game. Programming will also be required.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Manage your direct reports and help them grow in their role and ambitions, including setting up 1:1s, performance management, hiring and promotions. 
  • Work closely with designers, artists and other developers to understand their needs and ensure that your team is aligned with everyone to deliver on the expectations.
  • Guiding your team to build and enhance PCG tools, focusing on scalability, efficiency and ease of use within Unreal Engine.
  • Ensure the tooling pipeline is running efficiently across the board.
  • Research emerging trends in PCG, tools development and Unreal Engine.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to ensure the tools contribute effectively to all game systems and components.
  • Write high-quality code that is optimised, bug-free, and aligned with project goals.

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of professional experience as a programmer within the games industry.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ programming and knowledge of Unreal Engine.
  • Experience with current-gen console hardware.
  • A good understanding of geometric algorithms and data structures.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically to overcome technical challenges and drive innovation in technology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Management experience.
  • Tool Development experience.
  • Unreal experience with PCG experience or equivalent.
  • A good understanding of geometric algorithms and data structures.

Nice to have

  • Professional experience with Houdini.
  • Experience in performance/memory optimization. 
  • Experience developing with XBox and PlayStation.

This job can be hybrid/in-office from Boston or fully remote.
